Scientists from S4C hosts National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) based at University of Leeds, University of Leicester, and RAL Space contributed to this new paper from the UN Environment Programme. It details how an international collaboration accurately quantified methane emissions from the 2022 Nord Stream pipeline leak. NCEO scientists at RAL Space provided near-real time retrievals of methane over Scandinavia and the Baltic & North Seas from the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) instrument on board EUMETSAT’s MetOp-B satellite, just days after the event. #methane #emissions #NordStream #EarthObservation #SatelliteData #DisasterManagement #UNEP

Excellent opportunity from International Space Science Institute(ISSI) for scientists seeking to strengthen the observation-modelling interface. Must involve the interdisciplinary analysis and evaluation of #space mission data, applications include for understanding and modelling #Earthsystem processes, as well as #climatechange projections as well as #planetary sciences. International Teams typically consist of 8-12 core members from different institutions, who visit ISSI and/or ISSI-BJ for 2 (max. 3) one-week meetings.
