We champion race equality across sport & physical activity in the UK
About us
We champion ethnic diversity across sport and physical activity. Originally set up in 1998 by Sport England, in partnership with the Commission for Racial Equality, we are now a fully independent body and a national partner of Sport England & Sport Scotland. We deliver a range of world first and innovative programmes such as the Race Representation Index, the Racial Discrimination Support Service, LeaderBoard amongst others. In partnership with the likes of Nike, Peloton, Sweaty Betty Foundation we deliver local projects such as Future Female Leaders, Breaking Boundaries and Equally Active amongst others. We partner with National Governing Bodies and Scottish Governing Bodies to take them on the journey of being more inclusive for ethnically diverse communities. We have a large body of Associate Members, clubs and groups who deliver sport and exercise to ethnically diverse people. We ensure that they are a real network and support one another. We assist with funding, grant distribution and local advocacy. We work with the Associate Members to ensure the research we do is valid and relevant to our audience and beneficiaries. We are governed by a board of trustees who are deeply passionate about racial diversity in sport, offering perspectives from public and private sector organisations.

4 Years, 700+ Girls Powered! Last week marked our celebration event for the Girls Powered Programme at Everyman Cinema The project has been funded by The Sweaty Betty Foundation and ran for the last 4 years. We’ve had 15 incredible organisations coming together to help girls in greater Manchester co-design fun and engaging Sport and Physical Activity Sessions. On top of this 80 of the girls involved have now completed coaching courses, leaving a legacy of sports coaches in the greater Manchester area. The event saw some incredible sessions including a dancing from Jet Black Dance Academy, discussion panels with both the girls involved in the programme and organisational leads as well as the showcasing of the project impact videos. A big thank you to AL-HILAL REGENERATION ENTERPRISE C.I.C., Caring and Sharing Jet Black Dance Academy and KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club for their amazing insights, and a huge thank you to the crowd of local Associate Members of Sporting Equals, sector leads, and beneficiaries of the project for celebrating and supporting the girls of girls powered. #equality #diversity #inclusion #girlspowered #playherway #sweatybetty

Sporting Equals is delighted to announce its role as the official charity partner for the Kabaddi World Cup 2025. This partnership reflects our ongoing collaboration with the British Kabaddi League to promote the sport within the UK, enhancing its visibility and fostering greater recognition. Over the years, we have worked tirelessly to support kabaddi as a dynamic, inclusive sport that resonates with diverse communities, particularly those of South Asian heritage. At Sporting Equals, we are committed to driving social change through sports by addressing inequalities and encouraging participation from underrepresented groups. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission, as kabaddi represents a sport that breaks barriers, unites communities, and fosters inclusivity. Together with BKL and other stakeholders, we aim to ensure that the Kabaddi World Cup leaves a lasting legacy by inspiring more people to engage with the sport, empowering communities, and showcasing the transformative power of sports in building stronger, more cohesive societies. prem singh, Ashok Das, Ama Agbeze MBE LLB MSc, Timothy Masih, Nik Trivedi
