Congratulations to Tom Pike, a strategic director at Stevenage Borough Council who was announced as the new Chief Executive by members at this week's Full Council meeting. Tom has worked in local government for 20 years and joined Stevenage Borough Council in 2016 and will begin his new role at the beginning of April. Tom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the council. His insight into regeneration, housing, skills agenda, and STEM issues will be invaluable to the council and our residents and businesses will benefit greatly from this appointment.

People are at the heart of what we do. Teams from the council work with a passion across a wide range of areas to deliver critical services to residents and communities. A key element of the Making Stevenage Even Better Corporate Plan (2024 – 2027) is our Thriving Neighbourhoods programme. We want to ensure clean neighbourhoods and green spaces, so residents continue to feel proud of where they live. This also involves continuing our close partnership working with the culture and leisure sector to enable a vibrant, thriving, creative town which improves quality of life for residents and benefits the local economy. Leader of the Council Cllr Richard Henry spent time with the teams who are helping to deliver this.
