I was genuinely touched to receive the following email, thank you Steve Rotherham. Dear Rob, I want to express my gratitude as Mayor, and that of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and the AI Summit team, for your invaluable support in delivering a highly successful inaugural event which I am pleased to report was attended by more than 300 people. As I said in my speech, the Liverpool City Region has always been a place of pioneers, and your involvement was crucial in reinforcing our position at the forefront of not only technological innovation to drive investment and growth, but also in the "AI for Good” agenda – seeking to create meaningful local and societal impact. We have global ambitions in this field and pride ourselves on working openly and collaboratively across sectors and boundaries, and again your support was a true reflection of this. We look forward to building on the momentum that the Summit generated and are considering what further events we can hold, to further explore challenges and opportunities as the proliferation of AI increases. I am thrilled to share the incredible announcement of the Liverpool City Region being named as a £6.75 million UKRI Creative Services (JRS) Cluster for the Music sector! 🎧As someone who had the privilege of being involved in the early stages of this bid, I couldn’t be more excited to see this transformative vision come to life. This is a defining moment for Liverpool. MusicFutures led by the LivUni - School of Engineering is set to position our city at the global forefront of music innovation, blending cutting-edge technology, talent development, and R&D. Over the next five years, it will fuel opportunities for local talent, create sustainable, high-paying jobs, and solidify Liverpool’s legacy as a global music powerhouse. As someone deeply passionate about Liverpool’s music heritage and its potential for innovation, I believe this will open doors for audiences, brands, and artists worldwide to connect with our city in new and exciting ways. 🎧 From its rich musical history to this new chapter of tech-fuelled creativity, Liverpool continues to prove why it holds a special place on the world stage. 📣 Announced today: MusicFutures is a new £6.75m programme which will be delivered by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) on behalf of UK Research and Innovation ensuring that the Liverpool City Region is at the forefront of music innovation. Led by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, MusicFutures will establish the City Region as a music R&D “powerhouse and ecosystem”. The project brings together more than 20 strategic partners from across the LCR, including M&S Bank Arena Liverpool, Adlib, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Liverpool City Council. Baltic Ventures are delighted to be a delivery partner in the programme. “Liverpool and Merseyside hold a special place in our nation’s music landscape, and this funding will support imagination and experimentation across the city and region, as creators explore how we can make gigs more environmentally friendly” said Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy. Steve Rotheram, Mayor of the Liverpool City Region said MusicFutures will not only “elevate” the city’s cultural status, but will also unlock new opportunities for local talent, businesses and communities. “The Liverpool City Region has a long and proud history as one of the world’s most iconic places for music.
