Last week, our Non-Executive Chairman David Bundred, CEO Kevin Johnson, and Plant Manager Kerry Wood welcomed Mayor Steve Rotheram and his colleague James Crombleholme to our site for an introduction and tour. Their visit recognises the pivotal role of the £13.2m loan we received in December 2023 from the Mayor’s Urban Development Fund, partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. This support has been instrumental in our capital investment plans, which aim to drive growth and development opportunities in our local area.

For National Apprenticeship Week 2024, we're taking a moment to reflect! In 2021, we had 2 team members doing apprenticeships, and this year, we will see more than 25 of our team members go through the apprenticeship system! Apprenticeships are the backbone of our team development at Surface Transforms – providing both education and practical experience for a strong, skilled workforce.  Embracing the spirit of growth and learning, we're proud to share insights from Johnny Farrell, one of our esteemed team members who has embarked on not just one, but two apprenticeships here at Surface Transforms.   "During my time at Surface Transforms, I have had numerous opportunities to expand my knowledge both inside and outside the workplace. Beginning as a Sales Admin apprentice in 2020, I successfully completed the program with distinction by early 2023. I am currently halfway through my second apprenticeship, pursuing my level 4 Sales Executive qualification and I am eagerly anticipating the start of a degree apprenticeship in September. I am very grateful to the entire team at Surface Transforms for their support throughout my three and a half years of employment."
