About us

Surrey Heath covers 36.5 square miles in north west Surrey and is a mix of urban and rural environments. It combines a vibrant economy with an attractive environment and, statistically, is the second safest district in the safest county in England and Wales. The urban part of the Borough comprises Camberley and Frimley, extending to Deepcut, Mytchett and Frimley Green with other centres of population in Windlesham, Bagshot, Chobham, Bisley,West End and Lightwater. The Borough shares boundaries with Guildford, Runnymede and Woking in Surrey, Rushmoor and Hart in Hampshire and Bracknell Forest, Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire and is part of the Blackwater Valley sub region. Much of the rural area is within the Green Belt and includes extensive areas of heath and woodland. With London and its international airports, Heathrow and Gatwick, only an hour away by car or train, and major towns and cities in the south within easy reach, Surrey Heath is an ideal location for world wide commerce. Not surprisingly, Surrey Heath is continually sought after for residential and commercial development.

  • ◼️ Support for local charity supporting older residents The Executive is being recommended to approve grant funding of up to £7,500 for a local service aimed at improving the physical and mental wellbeing of older residents. Strategic Health and Wellbeing Services (SHAWS) applied to the Community Fund Grant Scheme for £7,500 to expand the provision of Strength and Balance classes at local libraries to residents over 65 years of age with long term health conditions. Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Resident Services and Communities, Cllr Lisa Finan-Cooke, said: “This is a positive project from an excellent local charity which is already helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community – extending it will mean it reaches even more people. “Despite finances being tight at the moment, the recommendation to fund the grant is made on the basis that the project will help the council to achieve its strategic aims in relation to ‘Promoting healthier and more inclusive communities’, in particular the key aims of supporting those in greatest need and promoting health and wellbeing.” More information about the item at the Executive meeting of 3 December: https://lnkd.in/e5RgjJTV

  • This morning we hosted another highly successful Business Breakfast at Roost in Bagshot, kindly sponsored by local IT company FluidOne. The event featured an engaging lineup of presentations, including: - Neil Furneaux, Business Development Manager at FluidOne, who provided valuable insights into internet safety and IT security. - Brune Torrente from Surrey County Council, who highlighted Surrey’s Business Decarbonisation Scheme. - Derek Carr from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), who shared his expertise on supporting small businesses. The morning also included a warm welcome from Councillor Shaun Macdonald, Leader, Surrey Heath Borough Council. We were delighted to see so many Bagshot businesses come together to network, exchange ideas, and share best practices in such a positive atmosphere. • New funding to help businesses in Surrey Heath decarbonise Surrey Heath Borough Council, in partnership with Surrey County Council and Woking, Guildford, Waverley, Reigate and Banstead, Spelthorne Borough Councils, is now offering a range of decarbonisation support and funding for small and medium businesses. A suite of offers has been designed to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to #decarbonise, save on energy costs, understand their #carbonfootprint and drive down their #emissions. The business decarbonisation offer includes:  - A free Business Decarbonisation Assessment  - A Business Decarbonisation Loan  - A free Business Decarbonisation course and a carbon calculator tool, on a one year licence. Before applying for a business decarbonisation loan, all potential applicants must undertake a business decarbonisation assessment. This will determine eligible projects and allow them to apply to the loan provider, if required. This offer follows the success of the recent Low Carbon Across the South & East (LoCASE) programme, which saw 229 SMEs receive over £1.9 million of grant funding towards decarbonisation or green economy projects. Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke, Property & Economic Development Portfolio Holder, Surrey Heath Borough Council said; “This is a fantastic opportunity for small and medium size businesses in Surrey Heath to get a free decarbonisation assessment and the opportunity to apply for loan for energy efficiency initiatives such as LED lighting, solar panels, heat pumps, electric vehicles and other decarbonisation projects. I encourage SME businesses to look at the support available. Every step towards decarbonisation supports a more sustainable environment.”                           The business decarbonisation course, support and loan offers are part funded by Surrey County Council and the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund via the Boroughs of Woking, Guildford, Waverley, Reigate and Banstead, Spelthorne and Surrey Heath.
