🆕 Today, Sustainability for Housing, with our secretariat, The Good Economy, is proud to publish the third Annual Review of the Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS) showcasing the remarkable progress in ESG performance by social housing providers across the UK. 🔗 Read our Annual Review ➡️ https://bit.ly/467No0B The Review highlights that SRS housing provider Adopters are making significant strides in ESG areas including energy efficiency, affordability, and social equity, reinforcing the sector’s commitment to sustainable and socially responsible practices. It also finds that the SRS is providing better and more useful information to help housing providers and funders assess ESG performance in the sector. These findings demonstrate great progress on the goals set when the SRS was created in 2020: connecting housing associations with ESG-focused funders and driving improvements in ESG performance. Some of the key findings include: 🔑 74% of housing providers found it easy or very easy to report against the SRS, with a fifth of providers finding the process easier the second or third time around. 🔑 58% of housing providers are using the SRS to benchmark their ESG performance against their peers to at least some extent. 🔑 Close to half of housing providers (44%), and almost all funders (92%) agree that the development of ESG reports has led housing providers to do things that they otherwise would not have done or to accelerate their implementation of planned actions, such as create sustainability strategies and set ESG-related targets. We are grateful to the SRS community for their ongoing support. We also would like to give special thanks to our case study contributors and reviewers. Our thanks also to Social for their editorial support. If you have feedback or questions or would like to discuss the benefits of adopting the SRS, please contact 📧 srs.contact@thegoodeconomy.co.uk. #SustainabilityForHousing #SocialHousing #ESG #ESGReporting
Sustainability for Housing

Home of the SRS. An ESG reporting framework for Social Housing.
About us
Sustainability for Housing coordinates the development, promotion and maintenance of The Sustainability Reporting Standard for Social Housing (SRS). The SRS is a voluntary reporting framework, covering 48 criteria across ESG considerations such as zero carbon targets, affordability, safety and resident voice. The sector has made a great start in adopting ESG reporting, which many believe will become mandatory in the future. The Standard is already playing it’s part in securing long term well priced finance for the Social Housing sector. It is enabling housing providers to report on their ESG performance in a transparent, consistent and comparable way. This is making it easier for lenders and investors to assess the ESG performance of housing providers, identify ESG risks and pursue opportunities to create positive social and environmental outcomes. Today, over 100 organisations have signed up to SRS as either SRS adopters or endorsers. 35 of these are the major Lenders to Housing Associations. If your organisation is interested in becoming an SRS Adopter, please follow the website link on this page.

🏘️ We’re thrilled to welcome the Kingdom Group (Kingdom Housing Association) to the SRS adopter community. With over 7,000 homes across East Central Scotland and providing support and care to over 3,500 people, Kingdom is one of Scotland's leading affordable housing and social care groups. In addition to their core Group activities, Kingdom runs a range of wider role activities including the Kingdom Works employability project and the national award winning Naumann Initiative, tackling homelessness and unemployment in line with their mission to provide "more than a home". Development Director, Tricia Hill, said: “The Kingdom Group is delighted to become a formal adopter of the SRS. 💫 Innovative work by SRS Adopters Metropolitan Thames Valley, Clarion Housing Group and The Hyde Group who have worked with Partnership for Young London to review collectively where young people’s needs, voices and leadership could be embedded across their services. 📖 Read their Shaping Housing Futures report here: https://lnkd.in/eKh_rp67
Following the online launch of the Shaping Housing Futures report, we were delighted to host an in-person event to bring together young peer researchers from the Young Residents in Partnership project with CEOs and senior leaders from MTVH, Clarion Housing Group, and The Hyde Group. The event was an opportunity for the peer researchers to share the six priority recommendations, including ‘Define young people as a separate stakeholder in housing policy’ and ‘Improve communications designed with and for young people including an age-specific comms strategy’, from the newly published report. Conversations were vibrant and the young peer researchers and senior housing leaders collaborated on ideating how to transform the recommendations into meaningful action. When looking at how to include youth voice in housing structures, Melbourne Barrett, our Chief Executive, emphasised: “What’s likely to work is something that’s going to be shaped and influenced by young people.” Mel also acknowledges the importance of engaging young people so that we can learn from each other and collaborate: “We’re helping each other. Housing leaders are here because they want to be – because we recognise that in order to help our organisations improve, we need to be reflective and responsive to young people. Equally, we got to make it easy for young people to engage with us.” We look forward to continuing to grow our partnership with young residents and building on the successes they have achieved in sharing their work on wider platforms, including as guest lecturers at Goldsmiths University and as speakers at Housing 2024 in Manchester, the London Housing Summit, as well as the HACT Social Value and Community Investment conferences. A huge thank you to Partnership for Young London who continue to lead this project and congratulations to the peer researchers Kara Davies, Ohemaa Agyekum-Koranchie, Theresa Okolo, Sayuri Montique, Beau Osei, and Ethan McCormick for putting together and delivering a great event. Thank you to colleagues Sarah Willis, Ewa Van De Schootbrugge and Saba Y. for making the event happen. #HousingFutures #MTVH #YouthLed #YoungResidents
