We attended the The Food and Drink Federation #InnovationForHealthierDiets parliamentary tasting event last week, showcasing our Apple, Oat and Cinnamon Mini-Muffin and Apple & Cucumber Energy Drink. The event highlighted the positive steps food manufacturers are taking to support healthier diets, with samples for attendees to try. We loved telling MPs and others about the complexities involved in the product innovation journey, including the steps taken to bring a prototype to market. Karen Betts, OBE, CEO, FDF, stopped by to sample our products with Mike Reader, MP - the mini-muffins were a hit! Rt Hon Caroline Nokes MP and Deputy Speaker also sampled them. Thank you to Marietta Sayegh, PhD, RNutr (Nutrition Science) from our nutrition team for bringing the muffins and drinks - and who was on point to answer all the great questions we got, and to the team who produced our samples. We are celebrating that we have helped remove 9 million tonnes of sugar from people’s diets using our no- and low-calorie sweeteners and fibres. That’s equivalent to 36 trillion calories! Today, in recognition of World Diabetes Day, we are proud to spotlight our commitment to supporting healthy living by improving nutrition through the use of our ingredients and expertise. We are delighted to share that, at the end of September - six months ahead of schedule - we met our five-year target to remove 9 million tonnes of sugar from people’s diets using our no- and low-calorie sweeteners and fibres. We are dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyles and combating global health challenges like diabetes. 🌍 Tate & Lyle set to deliver 100% purchased electricity from renewable sources! 🌍 In alignment with our commitment to help combat climate change, we are excited to announce that Tate & Lyle is set to deliver on one of our climate ambitions: 100% of the electricity purchased for our global manufacturing operations will come from renewable sources and associated renewable energy credits (RECs). This achievement will meet our 2030 target more than five years ahead of schedule! Our multi-faceted approach to renewable electricity includes: ✅ Installing renewable electricity infrastructure at our sites. ✅ Entering long-term agreements, such as the 12-year Power Purchase - Agreement with Enel North America. ✅ Procuring renewable electricity and RECs from utility providers, including Alabama Power Company for our sucralose facility in Alabama, US. ✅ Procuring RECs to cover remaining requirements. Achieving this milestone will reduce our global Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by more than 25% from a 2019 baseline on an annualised basis. Additionally, we are proud to join RE100, a global corporate renewable energy initiative, reinforcing our long-term commitment to renewable energy. These steps are part of our broader sustainability programme to decarbonise our operations. We have set ambitious GHG emissions reduction targets to be delivered by 2028, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, consistent with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
