  • As we wrap up 2024, we want to take a moment to thank our incredible community for your energy, support, and to celebrate the hard work of the region's tech startup founders this year. It’s been inspiring to watch our Techscaler members innovate and grow their startups. We've loved supporting you all, seeing you support each other, and seeing the support from the wider community too! This year has also been filled with meaningful connections and valuable conversations. From our regular Unfiltered breakfast networking events to socials, pitch clubs, and more, every interaction has brought fresh energy to our community. We're especially grateful to those who’ve generously shared their expertise—whether as event speakers, facilitators at our hackathon with AccelerateHER , during office hours or just over a bacon roll at Unfiltered. A special shout-out goes to our partners, who’ve helped us create even more opportunities to support our community. And we’ve loved expanding our reach by going to events across the Highlands & Islands and hosting events in Orkney, Aviemore, and Stornoway, building connections across the region. We hope you have a wonderful festive break and we can't wait to see what you all do in 2025!

Last Unfiltered Highlands for 2024! I am so happy I made it to the last Unfiltered gathering today! I was saying to Norette Ferns that I nearly didn't want to attend because I was in love with my bed😂 but when I remembered the purpose I jumped up and here I was. If I hadn't gone I wouldn't have these lovely people I met today Lauren McLachlan in the LawTech space, Geoff Todd helping businesses with setting up automations and taking the bulk off them, and meeting the amazing Natalie Smith again who recently pitched at the last concluded Techscaler showcase and also the Mandarin teacher Daniel Sherwood-Ckarke, I love to learn how to speak Mandarin someday. Jurgita G. I am so happy about the expansion you and your firm are doing in the property space in #inverness helping us solve the shortage of rentals properties, I am so happy this is happening 💃🏽💃🏽💪🏽 Weldone! Cheers to the CodeBase Highlands & Islands team for organizing this event and stayed consistent for the entire. I will see you all in new year 🎊 Before the new year, see you all at the Techscaler + Inverness Tech Meet up Christmas Social on the 11th of Dec. To attend please register here👇🏽 Tech Meetup: https://lnkd.in/dQ6fthvN See you there💃🏽💪🏽 #techstartups #digitalmarketing #communitymanager #networking #highlands #scottishhighlands #techscaler

Six weeks... That’s all the time Natalie Smith had to turn an idea into something pitch-worthy - and last night, she nailed it!!! Representing CodeBase Highlands & Islands, and our beautiful Scottish Highlands, during Techscaler First Steps Showcase in Glasgow. It was brave and so inspiring to watch. Natalie, you’re someone everyone should be following - I’m so proud of you! 🤩 The evening wasn’t just about pitches (though the new cohort blew us all away). It was about community. Reuniting with the amazing CodeBase team from all over Scotland felt like coming home - I missed you all so much! Gillian McGill, your excited scream when you saw me was pure joy. And Jess Moncur - OMG, I just love how you always show up and do your best to support the entrepreneurs and the community. Oh, and Kelly Gardner, PhD, you made my day when you called me the ‘Queen of the North.’ (Yes, I’m a Game of Thrones fan, so you know I loved every second of that!) 😁 Seeing how networks like CodeBase Techscaler, Geovation Scotland, Skillfluence, Barclays Eagle Labs, Scottish EDGE, The Data Lab - Innovation Centre, Mint Ventures , come together to support new and established businesses - and the entrepreneurs behind them - is simply incredible. It’s not just about guidance; it’s about lifting each other up, sharing resources, and ensuring no one walks this journey alone. It’s a reminder of how interconnected and powerful our ecosystem is when we work together. The conversations were as inspiring as the pitches - like my chat with Barry McDonald about how honest feedback fuels real growth. Or meeting Iwan Rhys Roberts, a fellow Tolkien fan who promised to teach me Welsh (one of my dream languages 😁). And then there’s Genna Jodie Masterton. Techscaler brought us together during our own First Steps journey, and since then, she’s become one of my closest friends and biggest supporters. Watching her grow and succeed has been an honor, and last night, seeing her shine again, I couldn’t help but feel so proud of how far we’ve both come. Last night was a reminder of what makes entrepreneurship in Scotland so special. It’s the ideas, the courage, the friendships, and the unwavering support from everyone involved. To those who pitched, connected, and inspired me yesterday - thank you. You’re building the future, and it’s looking brighter than ever. #Entrepreneurship #Community #Techscaler #TechscalerFirstSteps #ScottishEntrepreneurs #FutureBuilders

Yesterday I pitched at the Techscaler showcase after completing First Steps! 😆 (I’m Not going to lie, nerves actually got the better of me which I didn’t expect! 🤦🏻♀️) I took away so much from the day and made even more amazing connections and it’s just incredible to see so many enthusiastic Scottish Tech Start Ups in one place 😍 A huge well done to everyone who pitched yesterday you were all Fab! 🤩 Being on First Steps has been the most valuable experience I could have ever asked for. I have excelled in so many ways and the support and advice is second to none! Now the real work begins as we dive into building and testing the launch of our MVP, ‘Receipt2Plate’ where we are passionate about revolutionising the journey of your groceries to your plate — offering much more than ‘just another meal planning app!’ 🍽️📲 Thank you to everyone who connected and offered feedback it was all greatly appreciated ☺️ #Techscaler #Techscalerfirststeps #codebase

BIG NEWS - Regional EDGE! We're thrilled to announce that on 9th December, thanks to £400,000 backing by The Scottish Government and in collaboration with four regional partners, #RegionalEDGE will launch - inviting innovative, high-growth potential start-ups from across Perth and Kinross, Dundee and Angus, North East, and the Highlands and Islands to apply for up to £50,000 in funding awards. This new pilot is the latest initiative in the long-standing relationship between the Scottish Government and Scottish EDGE. The funds will be allocated via a traditional Scottish EDGE process delivered by region-specific delivery partners, namely – Opportunity North East Limited, Elevator (Dundee and Angus), GrowBiz Scotland - rural enterprise support (Perth and Kinross), and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. Each region will deliver its own ‘finals’, all individually resulting in five winners. Awards in each region will consist of one £50,000 top award, two £15,000, and two £10,000 awards.
