#Opencall #NYC *Hack for curious corporates* Join a one-of-a-kind Hack in NYC! If you are looking for professional and personal inspiration and a new perspective into innovation, social and economical challenges - this is for you! StoriesXFuture is Garage Stories newest series of inspirational days to learn, network, create, and share with like-minded people from different industries but with similar visions. #Why_ After 7 years running creative hacks, we are reversing the roles and sitting the corporates on the participants chair and the creatives and artists on stage to provide a new perspective into innovation, technology, economy and impact. #When and #what do I get_ The first event will take place Monday July 29th in a magic location in Williamsburg running from 10am to 8pm. The event includes cabaret-style talks (morning) and a hands-on session inspired by design futures and design fiction. Each participant will leave with a vision board, a lo-fi prototype, and a simple deck to convey both. There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking, surprises and magic. #More_ Each event will be focused on our areas of interest (sustainability, social justice, healthcare, etc), and during the session, we will use creativity and storytelling as tools to inspire, channel, and decode technological, social, and economic trends that are shaping our current reality and constantly creating newly available futures ahead of us. Participants (min 20 and max 50) will work in teams of 3 to 5 people together. Each one of them will work on a personal project with the help of the other team members while trying to find synergies and establish bridges between the different ideas to support each other’s vision. Read more and join here: https://lnkd.in/ew8HwDkx ps. We will also do it online in September - check the site!

A few weeks ago, when I heard about The Co-Operative UK’s hackathon, I knew that it was something that I wanted to share with my network. Beetroot Consulting Ltd has a tech-for-good mission, because I honestly believe that it can be used for evil or great good. I wanted to share this Manchester based hackathon with the network for that very reason. Tech-for-good means these types of collaborations. Be you a techy, a designer or just an advocate for change. I encourage you to sign up because The Co-op UK is the voice of the UK’s co-operative movement, they empower and support co-operative enterprise with specialised knowledge and expertise, to grow the co-operative economy and create a fairer society. That is why their movement into this hackathon and tech should be celebrated and shared wide. Please, could I ask you to share with your North West networks. "Nothing changes culture that isn't new" When creators aren't encouraged by their surroundings, breaking out and being original is hard. I started The Sensemakers Club out of a realization that we’re facing a serious community crisis—and because community is the backbone of where I am today. It was the open arms of the information architecture (#IA) community back in the early 2000s that showed me a path for someone like me in this field. For the last few years I've seen this sense of community slipping away, not just in my life but among many brilliant peers who are a blast to nerd out with. And this isn't just happening in our IA circle; it's felt across many fields, and particularly felt by those of us who thrive on making sense. It really does make sense when you think about it (pun totally intended!). We used to talk things out in lively small groups at conferences, in professional membership organizations, at local meetups, and yes, even in those brilliantly intimidating mailing list debates. Now, it feels like we’re all prepping solo for our next performance at those same venues rather than connecting. What I believe we're all craving is a real sense of community. I've been piecing together what truly sparks that feeling of belonging in small groups and over the past few months, I’ve been lucky enough to team up with a group of incredibly thoughtful, kind, and welcoming folks. Together, we have started a club centered around meaningful small group discussions. We’ve got 40 of your future peers, all trained and ready to dive into their roles this month, hosting and participating in discussions to fine-tune our community-focused format. Mark your calendars! We’re celebrating the end of their dress rehearsal month with the 1st Annual Sensemakers Salon on May 31st from 2 to 4 PM Eastern. This event is totally FREE, and you’ll get a taste of discussions led by our amazing group of sensemakers, some of whom are pictured here. … and if you are already sure this sounds like your kind of community, why not jump in as a founding member? We’re rolling out the red carpet with a special Founders Rate, available only until June 1st. It’s the best way to support and join in on what we’re all passionate about building here. Check us out, RSVP for the Sensemakers Salon and join as a founding member at: https://lnkd.in/eSgHw5ch I can’t wait to make sense in community with you.

The CoEfficient Labs Mobile is LIVE @ #TECHWEEK! What is the CoEfficient Labs Mobile you ask? Well...let me tell you a story! Since Year 1 of TechWeek -- our team has been running around the city to Spotlight as many events as we possibly can. We always try and capture "The Vibe" -- get shots of people enjoying themselves, sponsors and logos, we mic up the panelists and get cinema quality footage of every event we attend. Our goal is to Spotlight the best events for Tech Week for anyone that's not able to make it, AND for the people that did make it and want a fun piece of content to remember it by -- we got you covered! One of the hardest aspects of covering Tech Week (and events in general) is editing the footage into a shareable piece of content. There's just so much happening, and getting the footage back to our editing team to dissect can be one of the biggest time sucks. So..... This year -- we brought our editors with us! Zubin Vidor (our fearless editing lead) offered to convert his Van into a real life editing studio with our other editor Ethan Harm. The two of them have been putting in 10+ hour days, working out of their Van! As someone that loves startups, the hustle, and generally "just going for it"... I could not possibly be more proud and thankful of these two. We've had so many people ask if we were running a CIA operation outside the events, but in reality, we're just editing content and making shit happen. To everyone that has stopped by for an interview, or said "what's up" to the CoEfficient Labs team -- we love you guys! Stay tuned....we got lots more videos coming over the next week. I'm Sean Goldfaden. And THIS is #LATECHWEEK.
