Plans for our battery energy storage system (BESS) in Teesside have now been submitted to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. The 1GW storage system, one of the biggest in the UK, will play a vital role in accelerating a just clean energy transition. Great video showing how the incredible SeAH Wind Ltd project taking shape on Teesworks. 👷♀️🏗 It has been a fantastic effort by K2 Construction Management to reach this stage and we look forward to completion in 2025 🎉
As we close out an incredible year at Seah Wind, we want to take a moment to reflect on the amazing journey we've had! We started the year with 32 employees and 14 Apprentices, throughout the year, we have received over 10,000 applications. We now close the year with 185 employees, 12 in Training with Nordic and 32 Apprentices in post. Progress has been immense on our XXXL Monopile factory, with the factory now 96% complete. Since work commenced on the factory, K2 Construction Management has worked alongside over 45 local companies as main contractors and over 200 local subcontractors to deliver 3,000,000 manhours on the factory. As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited about the new opportunities this will present. The completion of the factory will be exciting time for everyone at SeAH Wind. Preparations are already underway with pre-production trails, which commenced in November, with the first Steel Can already being rolled inside the factory. The recruitment drive is still ongoing with exciting opportunities available into the new year. If you are waiting to hear back regarding an interview outcome, an interview date, or a start date, please rest assured that we will be in touch in the new year. 🎉 A Major Milestone at SeAH Monopile Factory! 🌍⚡ We’re proud to announce the completion of our final concrete pour at the SeAH Monopile Factory, marking a major milestone in this transformative project—the UK’s first monopile manufacturing facility for offshore wind! 💪 Our journey has been defined by precision, sustainability, and teamwork. Key achievements include: ✔️ Over 40,000m³ of reinforced concrete poured ✔️ 10,000 tonnes of steel rebar installed ✔️ 15,000m of utilities ducting and pipework laid ✔️ 85% of our workforce from the surrounding Tees Valley ✔️ 95% of concrete batched on-site, reducing impact on public highways ✔️ Delivered 15750 apprenticeship hours and over 350,000 man-hours Even with challenging site conditions and staggered access, our team delivered every programme ahead of schedule, including completing Phase 3 slabs four weeks early! 🚀 This achievement reflects the collaborative power of the Applebridge Family, with Applebridge Construction, Utilities, ZTL Contracting, and Building Services all playing vital roles. 💼🤝 A huge thank you to the SeAH Wind Ltd and K2 Construction Management teams for their partnership, support, and shared commitment to excellence. Plan have been submitted to build a multi-million-pound battery storage facility at Teesworks 💡 More than 100 jobs will be supported by the proposed development from battery storage specialist Energy Optimisation Solutions (EOS) 👏 If planning permission is granted by Redcar & Cleveland Council, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) will be built on a three-acre plot at the Long Acres section of the 2,500 acre Teesworks site on the south bank of the River Tees 🏗 The £62m facility will enable up to 100 Megawatts (MW) of additional green energy to be plugged into the grid ⚡ Find out more about this exciting project in the link in the comments 🔗

📢 Major Milestone Achieved! 🎉 We’re thrilled to share that site partners Rainton Construction, part of MGL Group, have successfully completed their final major internal concrete pour. To commemorate this momentous occasion, Chris Sohn, CEO of SeAH Wind Ltd, had the honour of ‘floating off’ the final section. He was also presented with a special engraved trowel, marking this incredible achievement. We continue to smash some incredible figures on the site: 🤩 Over 90,000m³ of concrete poured by the dedicated Rainton team. 🤩 More than 14,500 tonnes of reinforcement installed. This milestone reflects the exceptional collaboration and commitment of everyone involved. One Team, One Vision!

Outstanding news that Severfield has chosen Teesworks for the location for a new bespoke temporary final assembly facility following the award of a contract by Ørsted on the world's biggest offshore wind farm - Hornsea 3 👏 It is a further example of how Teesworks is developing as a centre for low carbon industries such as offshore wind, alongside projects such as carbon capture and hydrogen ♻ The new facility will be located close to the giant SeAH Wind Ltd monopile factory supported by Severfield and will be used for the final assembly, electrical fit-out, and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of supported internal platforms (SIPs) before they are stored and shipped offshore for installation.
We’re thrilled to announce that Severfield has secured a contract with Ørsted, the world’s largest offshore wind developer, for the Hornsea 3 project – the world’s biggest offshore wind farm! Hornsea 3 will deliver 2.9 GW of green energy, enough to power over 3 million UK homes. Working alongside our strategic key contractor, Hutchinson, we’ll be manufacturing, assembling, and commissioning boat landings, ladders, anode cages, and supported internal platforms (SIPs), making this a milestone moment for us as we dive into our very first offshore wind contract. By supporting this project, we’re playing our part in the drive toward a sustainable future and Net Zero. The ground-breaking Net Zero Teesside project has today reached a major development milestone. 🏗 NZT Power, which aims to be the world’s first gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, will be built at Teesworks in parallel with the Northern Endurance Partnership's transportation and storage infrastructure. Project partners – bp, Equinor and TotalEnergies - today announced financial close and entry into the execution phase for the highly anticipated project, creating and supporting 4,000 well-paid, highly skilled local jobs. The confirmed contracts have a combined value of around £4bn - further enhancing Teesside’s reputation as the “Silicon Valley of Net Zero”. The decision paves the way for construction to commence from mid-2025, with start-up expected in 2028 and follows the successful completion of land remediation by Teesworks in the past year to prepare the site for construction.
