About us

Capital and advisory solutions for sponsors, corporates and investors. SERVICES Strategic advice: The core of Ternion’s Strategic Advisory practice is a 192-point Accelerator, developed over a decade, to launch private capital firms. Ternion can provide strategic advice across all aspects of the firm and fund formation process, including the production of blue chip policies, processes and LP-facing materials. Direct deal capital raising: Within traditional closed-ended vehicle fundraising, for every $3 of capital being sought, only $1 of capital is available from limited partners (Bain, 2023). Conversely, many LPs are actively seeking to partner on direct deals with fundless sponsors, search funds or traditional GPs bridging to a close on a first fund. We support transactions seeking $5-100M of capital. Corporate capital raising: For founders and management teams seeking growth capital, seeking to put succession plans into motion, or targeting MBOs. GP seeding / staking: Strategic and working capital provided across firms and funds from inception can rapidly accelerate the trajectory of emerging managers. We source long-term partners for founders. NAV lending: Ternion has developed the Management Company Bridge Facility (“MCBF”) to provide flexible capital at critical moments in the lives of private capital firms. Deal sizes range from $20-100M. Ternion Alternatives is a trading name of Friedland Group Limited. Friedland Group Limited is an appointed representative of Messels Limited which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Last night marked the launch of the Women in Private Equity Dinner Series. Hosted by Emma Glyn and Joanne Maure, they shared how much of a joy it was to witness the energy and engagement of everyone in the room.   It was a privilege to sponsor such a wonderful event and we’re proud to support a community that champions collaboration and growth.   Here’s to many more gatherings that celebrate and empower women in private equity.   #WomenInPrivateEquity #Networking #Leadership #Inspiration #BEMI #PrivateEquity

What the #UK election announcement means for private equity. Any election year makes private equity, as a sub-set of financial services, a potential target for government election promises and policy. For UK managers in the market or hitting the fundraising trail now, expect LP questions like: ❓ What will the impact be of a change of Government (or indeed the same Government, but with a greatly changed Cabinet) on your existing portfolio? ❓ What will the impact be on your pipeline? Might uncertainty help entry multiples? ⁉ What is your view on suggested changes to carried interest taxation? The latter is tough... though I've heard some great ideas start to form around growth shares for UK managers with UK strategies... 📷 : Reuters #privateequity #alternatives #election #uk #rishisunak Manas Pratap Singh

See below for BlackRock's 2024 Private Markets Outlook report. Key themes: Energy transition is a massive trend, with no sign of stopping. Private debt is the "future of finance", with significant AUM growth predicted. Private equity could represent a good buying opportunity, with highly motivated sellers, increasing access to debt, and valuations falling. Also a growing need for secondaries. Real estate highlights diverging fortunes - firms are turning to private debt markets for funding. "Income growth and yield will be more important for real estate investors", and there are signs of supply and demand divergence. #privatemarkets #privateequity #privatedebt #alternatives Ternion

GP staking | Building next generation alternatives firms

The differences between first time funds that race ahead in this market, and the rest – part 5 This series, we’ve unpacked the 5 qualities behind the most successful raises: ➡ A strong brand ➡ A coherent vision --> strategy --> pipeline ➡ A world-class and complementary team ➡ A track record of prior success that they can point to ➡ Investor relationships who will follow or are following them Last but not least: 5. INVESTOR RELATIONSHIPS If you’re reading this and you’re at your “prior firm”, your secret is safe with me. But more importantly, the LPs most likely to support you at your new firm are those who know you the best. To the extent you can, build relationships with those LPs. Similarly, as you embark on your new firm journey, map out the investors who invest in your strategy and build relationships early. The first time you speak to an LP shouldn’t be when you’re asking for capital. For many of the fundraises you hear about that rapidly raise at their caps, many of those situations benefit from large anchor commitments from LPs who are either strategic investors in the firm, very familiar with the firm or the team from prior lives, or both – it’s rarely coincidence, and rarely love at first sight. Would you ask someone to marry you on a first date? #marketing #privatemarkets #privateequity #alternatives Ternion #emergingmanagers #capitalraising
