Weekly Friday Personal Post: Thank you to The Canmaker Summit team for the opportunity to speak to this global can industry audience on the risks of greenwashing and how the can industry can avoid greenwashing accusations as it rightfully tells its fantastic sustainability story. I learned a lot from the presentations as well as in conversations during the networking breaks. I enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and having the opportunity to get to know new people in the can industry family. Maybe most interesting for me was hearing about the many innovations people are working on to develop, introduce, and scale. It makes me very excited for the future of the can industry. I'm looking forward to hopefully attending next year in Dublin! I'm also looking forward to diving into the November issue of The Canmaker during my flight home.

Somos responsáveis por cerca de 90% de tudo o que é reciclado no Brasil. Nossa contribuição ativa não só alimenta o ciclo da economia circular como também promove práticas robustas de ESG (ambiental, social e de governança), ajudando o Brasil a manter-se em destaque em termos de sustentabilidade e inclusão.* Durante o evento, reforcei a importância do nosso trabalho para a preservação ambiental e a economia do país. Somos, em muitos sentidos, o coração do sistema de reciclagem brasileiro, garantindo que toneladas de materiais voltem ao ciclo produtivo. A nossa atuação não só impacta diretamente os índices de reciclagem nacionais, mas também fortalece o cumprimento de compromissos globais de sustentabilidade e responsabilidade social, elementos centrais para o desenvolvimento de uma economia mais justa e inclusiva. A ANCAT e a Abralatas atuam em parceria em diversos projetos para fortalecer a reciclagem no Brasil, incluindo a criação de hubs que aproximem os catadores da indústria, facilitando a venda direta de latas recicláveis para o setor industrial. Esses hubs representam um avanço para o setor, ampliando o protagonismo dos catadores na cadeia de valor e promovendo eficiência e transparência nas transações, em benefício tanto dos trabalhadores quanto da indústria.
