The Czech National Bank (CNB) is considering the inclusion of Bitcoin in its foreign exchange reserves as part of a diversification strategy. Governor Aleš Michl has expressed that while the bank focuses on traditional assets like gold, stocks, and bonds, he is open to the idea of purchasing a small amount of Bitcoin. However, there are no immediate plans for such an acquisition, and any decision would require approval from the CNB's seven-member Board of Directors. The CNB is also increasing its gold reserves, aiming for gold to constitute about 5% of its total assets by 2028. This move towards considering Bitcoin reflects a broader trend where central banks globally are reevaluating their reserve strategies to potentially include cryptocurrencies.
