Majority of people often do not feel safe or comfortable for a lot of time, this needs to be recognised and designed out. And after 5,000 years of known civilisation it is finaly being addressed. • 🌟 EQN is looking for a new Chairperson 🌟 We are looking for a dynamic new Chair of The Equilibrium Network, as our founding Chair, Caroline Cole will be stepping down in February 2025. This is a unique opportunity to help steer an increasingly influential network that is making a meaningful contribution towards a more inclusive and equitable industry.   Founded in 2014, with the aim of enabling women to have equal influence in the design and delivery of the built environment, we have grown phenomenally. We are currently a network of around 1,000 women and men, endorsing and supporting our aims in 50 countries across the world – and we continue to grow at a pace.   The current Chair and Steering Group members are all volunteers, senior players in their professions, who share a desire to create a more balanced and diverse industry. As a not-for-profit organisation, the role of Chair is a pro bono appointment.   The Steering Group meets quarterly but the Chair’s role may, at times, require the equivalent commitment of around a day a month. It is likely therefore that the new Chair will have the support of a sympathetic employer.   Given the interdisciplinary nature of EQN, interest is welcomed from architects, engineers, landscape architects, contractors, surveyors, policy makers, planners and urbanists, as well as those working in client organisations, academia, other built environment consultancies and institutes.   If you would like to find out more, do get in touch by sending us a message through our company page on Linkedin https://lnkd.in/etRc76SP, or our website - https://lnkd.in/eEApxD6j   To express your interest in the role, we will need to receive no more than a couple of pages explaining why you would like to get involved, and outlining the knowledge, skills and expertise you bring to the table. All expressions of interest will be considered, and selected applicants will be interviewed by the EQN nominations committee. The closing date for applications is Monday 23 December 2024, with interviews in January 2025.

Joining the The Equilibrium Network Ltd Network was a no brainer for me, as someone who is passionate about creating better places for women and girls. The group was set up to enable women to have equal influence in the design and delivery of the built environment. All my work is underpinned by a desire to understand the lived experience of others, which can only happen by listening, observing and slowing down. I was asked to contribute a think-piece about nature-based solutions for The Equilibrium Network Ltd following a recent fieldtrip to Barcelona in the Spring. Have a read and let me know how you think lessons from Barcelona could be applied in the UK. https://lnkd.in/gTqw7edK If you’d like to join a network of 800 women and men of influence working across the globe, please join us!  https://lnkd.in/dCgN_sz

  • ⭐ Meet the Panel ⭐ The second panellist joining the line-up of experts for our November event is Tetiana Voloshyna. She is an urbanist, landscape architect, and city planner, currently serving as Deputy Chief for Strategic Development and Innovation at the ME Institute for Urban Development of Vinnytsia City Council. Who knew Socratess teacher was a woman? I did not so i looked it up. Each day I learn a little but more about females who helped shape the humankind and whose work was apropriated, names erased and stories skewed. From Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia : "Though Aspasia is one of the best-attested women from the Greco-Roman world, and the most important woman in the history of fifth-century Athens, almost nothing is certain about her life. Aspasia was portrayed in Old Comedy as a prostitute and madam, and in ancient philosophy as a teacher and rhetorician. She has continued to be a subject of both visual and literary artists until the present. From the twentieth century, she has been portrayed as both a sexualised and sexually liberated woman, and as a feminist role model fighting for women's rights in ancient Athens." #female #equity #feminism #philosophy #history The Equilibrium Network Ltd

Aspasia: the philosopher, thinker, and teacher who shaped Socrates himself—yet was erased from history books. 📜 Known for her groundbreaking teachings on rhetoric and philosophy, Aspasia’s influence inspired one of history’s greatest minds. It’s time to reclaim her story.

  • ⭐ Meet the Panel ⭐ I'm delighted to announce that the first panellist kicking off our November event is fellow DivAirCity consortium member, Sara Kruse Cox. Join us as Sara takes us through the inspiring story of how an unused space in Aarhus was transformed into a vibrant park through citizen engagement and sustainable design. Frydenlundparken now supports local wellbeing, biodiversity, and community involvement. Want to learn more?
