It was brilliant to attend the Therapy Expo MSK Conference this year at The NEC, Birmingham. We explored the challenges of cultural competence within the physical activity agenda and propose some solutions based on recognised and evidence based models of care. A big thank you to Dr. Faisal Shaikh, Dr Natasha Jones, Dr Ashley Ridout, Dr Tim Anstiss and Dr Dane Vishnubala for presenting!
Really grateful to be invited as a conference speaker at the therapy expo and MSK conference 2024 Conference at the The NEC, Birmingham. Its a special day when you get to present alongside role models like Natasha Jones and Dane Vishnubala , straight up legends like Tim Anstiss and colleagues you respect like Ashley Ridout. Together we showcased Moving Medicine, Active Partnerships and variety of other initiatives in #physicalactivity promotion all trying to make a dent in health inequalities It's amazing how much more you learn from these interactions, even random conversations with other speakers like Dr Qhayiya Mudau (Magaqa), Chris Lambert-Gorwyn, Madhan kumar Ramanathan at the Miha Bodytec stand, and my old friend Ryan Keilty now representing ProfDoc Thank you all, keep churning! #therapyexpo24 #mskconference24 #TE24 #exercisemedicine #healthinequality #EDI

The Undergraduate Society of Sport and Exercise Medicine (USEMS) are a non-profit group acting as an overarching undergraduate society across the UK, working to promote the SEM specialty to all interested undergraduate medical students. As part of their work, USEMS hold an annual essay competition for any aspiring SEM professional. The contest, organised by USEMS in partnership with FSEM, is open to undergraduates and recent graduates and invited entrants to submit essays in the style of journal editorials on a choice of subjects. Congratulations to Jack Doyle from the University of Sheffield, for winning the 1st prize. He was presented the award at FSEM’s Annual Awards Ceremony in October. Entry for the 2024/25 competition is now open. More can be learned on the Faculty website, and you can also read Jack's essay:

We are very excited to bring you our very first in person episode, as Ralph sits down with Professor Ross Tucker, a science and research consultant for World Rugby and someone you might recognise from The Real Science of Sport Podcast. We caught up at the BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF SPORT AND EXERCISE MEDICINE 2024 Conference with Ross, a keynote speaker at the conference. The discussion covered a number of topics within sport science, such as mouthguards, head injury assessment and the future of the process, the use of technology and its application within sport and healthcare, and much more throughout the episode. A huge thanks to Ross for joining us to chat all things sports science, it was a pleasure! ▶️Watch on YouTube - https://loom.ly/3hbYrE8 🎧Spotify - https://loom.ly/_p-z4QE 🎧Apple podcasts - https://loom.ly/pmT8HJs
