Reducing the frequency of deaths by suicide by improving mental well-being in society and business
About us
The founder of The Jordan Legacy is Steve Phillip, a successful speaker, consultant and trainer in the world of LinkedIn and social media. Following the death of Steve's son, Jordan, to suicide, in December 2019, Steve set up the Legacy, in memory of his son, to achieve 4 specific aims: 1. To improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals. 2. To reduce feelings of social isolation and increase community spirit. 3. To improve support structures within organisations to improve staff wellbeing and quality of life. 4. To support a societal change in culture from ‘what you have’ to ‘who you are’ being most important. ✨ Take part in our next One Million Steps: Building A Healthier World For Giving® challenge, starting on January 1st 2025! ✨ Since 2023 more than £17,000 has been raised for The Jordan Legacy through OMS challenges, specifically to enable us to continue to do the vital work we do to help to prevent the biggest killer of men and women under 35 - suicide. Suicide rates in this country have not moved on a downward trend for 16 years and the latest statistics show a 7% increase in England and Wales between 2022-2023. More must be done, particularly as we know that most suicides are preventable. How you can help: 👉 Sign up and walk 1 million steps in 100 days (an average of 10,000 steps a day) 👉 Encourage your company to set up your own 1 Million Steps fundraiser and invite all employees to take part - We have free registration places available for the first 50 people who sign up and pledge to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship - For more information please visit https://lnkd.in/een6DmmP on our website. #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #fundraising

🔦 Spotlight on Hope 🔦 This week we are shining a light on The Paul Lavelle Foundation - 'raising awareness for male domestic abuse victims.' Founded in 2018 by the friends of 50-year-old Paul Lavelle, who died at the hands of his partner in May 2017, the charity actively encourages males to speak out about their abusive relationships without shame, and to eradicate the stigma that is attached to male domestic violence. As well as supporting victims and survivors, they provide healthy relationship education as a preventative measure and deliver community well-being activities including cycling, running and swimming groups. On the 22nd of February 2025, Cameron Keenan, joined by a close group of friends, will undertake his third 'Rossathon' to raise funds for The Jordan Legacy ❤ The Rossathon began in 2022 to honour the life of Ross Keenan - a cherished father, son, brother and friend - who tragically passed away by suicide. Each year the event, held on or around Ross's birthday, brings together friends, family and supporters to celebrate his memory and raise awareness about mental health. It stands as a living tribute to his legacy, bringing hope and support to those who need it most. This year, on what would have been his 37th birthday, participants will run one kilometre for each year of his life, symbolising each year he was, and should still be, with us. This will include a challenging 8-kilometre ascent to Snowdon's summit at 3,560 feet above sea level. The Rossathon 2025 is dedicated to the recent loss of Cameron's close friend, whose passing by suicide has left an immense void in their lives. His family have given their blessing for some of his ashes to be scattered at the summit, where in 2022 Ross's ashes were also placed. 💫 Cameron has raised thousands of pounds to support our work at The Jordan Legacy through the Rossathons - we are incredibly honoured and grateful to be chosen in memory of those closest to him. These funds will help enormously in enabling us to continue in our mission of moving towards a #ZeroSuicideSociety - one that is willing and able to do all it can to prevent all preventable suicides through collaboration, education and awareness raising. He has already raised a fantastic £1,580 of his £2,500 target for his upcoming challenge. If you would like to make a donation please visit his Just Giving page at https://lnkd.in/eVMayJCX, where you can also read more about his story 💙 #mentalhealth #suicideprevention

The village of Kirk Deighton is one that Steve Phillip has regularly cycled through for the past 15 years; one which has recently taken on a much greater importance to us since getting to know the parents of two young people from there, both teenagers, who died by suicide in November 2023 and on Christmas Day that same year. On Friday Steve and his wife attended, and said a few words at, the village’s annual Christmas light switch-on, a wonderful event which included a visit from Father Christmas, the Wetherby Silver Band and the Wetherby Lions, as well as sales of the village's popular festive calendar - the proceeds of which are being gratefully received by The Jordan Legacy this year. A huge thank you to everyone involved for supporting our mission in suicide prevention ❤ #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #christmas

A huge thank you to all involved at last week's LETS IMPROVE WORKPLACE WELLBEING CIC's (LIWW) Annual Summit 2024, which raised over £500 to support our work in suicide prevention! A special thank you to Debra Peltz, Hannah Pearsall, Nuzhad Chagan and Ryan Briggs for bringing this year's event together 🙏 Attendee Clare Gowar summarises perfectly why we are so proud at The Jordan Legacy to partner with LIWW - "What stood out for me was the collective spirit of the movement. 'Let's Improve Workplace Wellbeing' lives up to its name - a call to action for us all to collaborate, share insights and reflect on how we can create workplaces that are healthy, productive and engaging, as well as the steps we can take to support others and ourselves" Thank you so much for your ongoing support 💙 Sarah Restall Eamonn Sheridan Tim Hipgrave MSc Anwen Cooper Stuart Mace 💚 Daniel Chan Richard Turner Lee Godwin Samantha Langford MSc 👋 Ash Dey Dr. Fabienne Palmer - DClinPsych, CPsychol YuLife Bupa Smart About Health Hays FinWELL Training Ltd - Empowering Healthier Relationships With Money🐷 Hayley Farrell Dr Sabrina Robinson #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #wellbeing
