The innovative behavioural change project ‘A Nudge in the Right Direction: Enhancing Pedestrian Safety in Liverpool’ was recently honoured with a prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.

🚗✨ This week, our CEO, Ruth Purdie. OBE, was honoured with a prestigious award at the annual Project EDWARD (Every Day Without A Road Death) reception, held at the Houses of Parliament on Monday, 9 December. Ruth was invited to speak at the event in recognition of her pivotal role in helping to establish Project EDWARD in 2015. Her tireless dedication to road safety was further celebrated with a surprise award presented by Lilian Greenwood MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Future of Roads. James Luckhurst, founder of Project EDWARD, shared these heartfelt words: "Ruth continues to work with impressive energy, demonstrating inspiring leadership in road safety on a national level – but this award is actually long overdue. It’s our personal way of saying thank you to Ruth for saying yes to Project EDWARD in 2015." Ruth’s career has been defined by her exceptional leadership and commitment to saving lives on our roads. From working with European governments as General Secretary of TISPOL, to being awarded an OBE in 2021 for services to Policing and Road Safety, her contributions have been immeasurable. Since joining The Road Safety Trust as Chief Executive in 2023, her forward-thinking leadership continues to inspire our mission to achieve safer roads for all.
