Great to see Virgin Money Intermediaries spotlighting the importance of #RetrofitMortgages … they are an incredible tool for helping homeowners make their properties more energy-efficient and comfortable. If you or your clients are considering ways to improve your home’s energy performance, now’s the time to explore your options. With so many innovative products in the market, the journey to a cosy home is more accessible than ever. #GreenMortgages #GreenFinance #MortgageBroker

🚀 Virgin Money and Hive 🚀 Following the launch of Retrofit Boost back in July, we’ve held webinars and hosted meetings to talk about our collaboration with Hive which aims to help create an energy efficient solution for clients. One of our broker partners took full advantage of Hive’s Home Health check to understand where his home could be more home efficient and potentially save some money on his energy bills. Matthew Fleming-Duffy, FCMI at Knight Frank Finance said “I recently benefited from a Home Health Check arranged via Virgin Money, and I must say the detailed insights helped me understand how my home loses heat and where improvements can be made. I must say I wasn’t expecting thermal images of my radiators, but they are a great addition and really make it easy for me to understand what’s actually going on. Following these very practical recommendations, my home will be warmer and more comfortable, and I’ll also be cutting down on my energy bills.” If you’d like to know more visit the Virgin Money Retrofit Boost hub 👉 or visit the Hive partnership site 👉 https://lnkd.in/e7rUrc-5 You can also speak to your BDM 👉https://lnkd.in/e_cbYft9 #MortgageBroker #HiveHomeHealthCheck #RetrofitBoost

Why is electricity so expensive in the UK?? Below is the best explanation I have heard as to why we pay some of the highest prices for electricity in Europe.. With more and more renewable energy coming into the grid, things will have to change. But in the meantime What can you do to manage your bills? One option is to explore flexible tariffs often offered by energy supplies, where you pay a lower rate for your electricity during off peak hours. You will need to have a smart meter to access these tariffs but they can help reduce your overall electricity cost. To maximise flexi tariffs 1. Check with different providers to find one that offers a tariff that works for you, there are lots of different options. 2. Use timers and smart plugs to run appliances during the cheaper rate 3. Anything with a battery, make sure the battery is charged fully during off peak hours, then run the battery down when the electricity is most expensive. 4. Look at installing a battery system to help run your home during peak hours. Whilst flexi tariffs won’t solve high electricity prices, they’re a small way you can take control of your energy costs. If you’re curious about more tips or want to learn how we can help reduce your energy bills, feel free to connect. What are your thoughts on flexi tariffs? Have you used them and have they helped? Please share your experience with others below! ⬇️

🌟 Happy New Year! 🌟 As we welcome 2025, and the weather has turned a bit colder outside... it's the perfect time to think about how we can make our homes more energy-efficient and save on our energy bills. How efficient is your heating system? Do You Know Your Boiler's Flow Temperature?: This is the temperature setting on your boiler, by adjusting the flow temperature on your boiler can reduce your energy usage. Lowering it to around 55°C can make your heating system more efficient without compromising comfort. Does your Boiler have a Weather Compensation: A weather compensator adjusts your boiler's output based on the outside temperature, ensuring your home stays comfortable without wasting energy. If your boiler doesn't have one, consider adding this feature. Be Your Own Weather Compensator: Even without a weather compensator, you can manually adjust your heating settings based on the weather forecast. Lower the temperature on milder days to save energy. Do you Adjust your Radiator Valves: TRV's (thermostatic radiator valves) allow you to control the temperature of individual rooms, ensuring you're only heating the spaces you're using. Each one has a thermostat inside so you can adjust it to suit your needs, if they are open fully they don't work and won't switch off when you room is warm enough. Turn them down slightly and this can reduce your energy bill. Do your Radiators Heat Up Evenly Do you find that some of your radiators don't heat up as well as others, or have cold spots. A heating system that is not efficient will mean that radiators can not perform as well as they are meant too, meaning that rooms can be colder and the boiler has to work harder to heat up your home. Let's make 2025 the year we all make our heating systems work more efficiently for your home and reduce energy bills! 💡💰 www.thermafy.com Share your own energy-saving tips in the comments below and let's help each other create a more sustainable future.

This week, I had the privilege of volunteering at Microsoft's annual Hackathon, partnering with ThermaFY Group, a company committed to promoting community savings and energy efficiency. 💡 Working with Copilot at my side, the experience was intense (the 5am kick off call required a LOT of coffee ☕) yet rewarding, showcasing what can be achieved in a short timeframe. 🎉 The week was filled with fun, collaboration, and the opportunity to meet some truly remarkable individuals. I hope that our collective efforts will lead to a tangible social impact. #Hackathon #Collaboration #SocialImpact #copilot #energysaving #MicrosoftHackathon Geoffroy de Chateauvieux Eimear O'Rourke Lizzie Elliot Amanda Pickford Buse Bircan Jonathan Mars

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland House Takeover - Day 1 & 2 Wrap-Up 🎡 It was ‘standing room only’ on both Monday and Tuesday morning as we kicked off our London Tech Week fringe events. With 20 Scotland-based companies with us, we were here to make a splash, which we’ve certainly achieved so far. We particularly enjoyed hearing from our #VC Panel, featuring James Pringle of Mercuri and Daniel Glazer of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati expertly hosted by our very own Beena Sharma of CCU International. We covered a wide range of topics (as you’d expect). Everything from #AI agents, to #UK and #US fundraising trends and what to say or not say in your pitch. This was the perfect prelude to some drop-in pitch practice later that afternoon. Special thanks to Patrycja, Cameron, Victoria for offering some great feedback to the companies ahead of Scotch & Pitches this evening (few places available! sign up up here https://lnkd.in/ensiAjCS) A get-together dinner for us and many more #Scottish friends in #London was a great way to wrap-up the day before we headed to the official LONDON TECH WEEK 2024 opening party at Between The Bridges. Yesterday kicked off with a very similar event format, this time hearing from Mary Lin, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Odin. We really enjoyed hearing Mary’s insights on fundraising and her founder journey. Special mention to Danielle Shand of Thorntons Law LLP for expertly hosting. With well in excess of 90+ VC firms registered across our events this week, it’s a sure a sign as any of what #Scotland has to offer. Huge thanks has to go to the Scotland House London team - Bronach Hughes, Mariama C., Kirsteen Paterson, Paul Wood, John Webster. We’ve enjoyed working closely with them on this events series. It’s a superb space in a superb location and our companies have particularly enjoyed co-working there this week. That’s not all of course. We’ll be back this afternoon for a ‘LDN Ecosystem Mixer’ - sold out (even the waiting list is ‘sold out’). However, we do have some spots going at our flagship event tonight 'Scotch & Pitches' at Shoreditch Exchange We’ll be bringing together 200 VCs, Angels, Corporates and ecosystem builders from all over the world for an evening of pitches, free whisky tasting, music and delicious food.
