However, depending on how weekdays fall in a year, an employer may have to account for an extra tax ‘week’ dependant on their pay frequency and contractual pay date. What an incredible journey it’s been! The Global Innovation Challenge 2024/25 has officially ended, with participants having submitted their final pitches yesterday. Our workshop series wrapped up with Workshop 8 – Managing Your Finances as a New Start-Up, where participants received insights to navigate the financial complexities of launching their ventures. The session was led by Shaun Millican, Partner at Johnston Carmichael Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, who provided practical strategies for building a solid financial foundation. Participants learned how to assess income models, manage profit and loss, and create accurate cash flow forecasts. Shaun also covered key topics such as funding options, equity dilution, and using digital tools like accounting software to streamline financial processes. As we reflect on the past weeks of intense learning and development, we are incredibly proud of all the participants who have dedicated themselves to this journey. We’ve seen incredible growth and innovation, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of these entrepreneurs.
