Fleet operators: we hear you! Charging time can sometimes mean down time, so we know we have a responsibility to help increase productivity when using the GRIDSERVE network. I’m very pleased (or ‘super jazzed’ if you are an American reading this), to be back working again with my previous employer and the very lovely fleet team and engineer drivers at British Gas. Centrica and parent company of energy retailer British Gas, currently runs a 2,500-strong fleet of Vauxhall Vivaro Electric vans. The majority of their engineers cannot home charge and they do not operate out of any depots, so overlaying normal activities while charging is crucial to increasing efficiency. The unmistakably blue British Gas vans are often seen charging at the GRIDSERVE Braintree Electric Forecourt® and by working together, Centrica and GRIDSERVE have been able to improve fleet productivity. GRIDSERVE, the electric vehicle charging company, has worked with Thinventory, a leading logistics and technology driven company, to bring smart lockers to the GRIDSERVE Braintree Electric Forecourt®. The team at Thinventory are also a great bunch to work with and we are all seeing promising progress with lots more developments to come. We are thrilled to announce our partnership with ZEVHub to roll out smart lockers at an EV charging hub in Central London! ByBox and ZEVHub, with the support of LockerQuest, have installed 35 lockers at Southwark to offer field service customers secure and convenient parts collection while charging their electric vehicles. Plans are underway to expand to 120 lockers by the end of Q3. By providing convenient and secure access to essential parts, our smart lockers not only enhance efficiency but also support the transition to electric fleets by reducing unnecessary vehicle weight and increasing EV range.
