Are you involved in medtech? Interested in innovation? Last week, the UK Government released its ‘Design for Life’ Roadmap, an initiative of the medical technologies and innovation directorate in DHSC dedicated to delivery of a circular approach to medtech. It has been developed by more than 80 stakeholders from across the UK medtech industry. The goal of this roadmap is to transition away from the use of avoidable single-use medtech products, towards a ‘functional circular system’, by 2045. The roadmap outlines six problem statements: 1.      Leadership and alignment 2.      Behavioural change 3.      Commercial incentivisation 4.      Regulations and standards 5.      Physical and digital infrastructure 6.      Transformative innovation Additionally, the programme defines four primary objectives to tackle the above problems: 1.      Boost UK growth 2.      Improve NHS resilience 3.      Reduce waste and emissions 4.      Generate substantial cost savings It is fantastic to see a focus on innovation and collaboration within the medtech industry to bring positive changes in future.
