Have Duolingo Just Made the Ultimate Marketing Move? At 9am this morning, the Truffle team hopped on our daily morning call to discuss the latest news in the social media world, only to be met with a tragedy. Us, along with 1.1 million others, were #heartbroken to discover that Duolingo’s beloved mascot, Duo Lingo (not to be confused with Dua Lipa…) had sadly passed away. RIP little birdy. Brands such as Crocs, Pinterest and Pringles had already jumped in to react to the news, while others are linking the owl's demise to the recent internet feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Given Duolingo’s history of embracing internet culture with its unhinged brand voice, this move feels right on brand. But the question on everyone's mind is: why? It’s shocking, something no brand has done before. In just a few hours, Duolingo gained viral traction, generated buzz and captured the attention of new audiences. And if this isn’t the end, they’ve created the perfect set-up for the ultimate comeback… When and if the owl returns, everybody will be watching, ready to voice their opinions. Do you think this is clever or foolish? The Truffle team are torn. But we’ll save that debate for the privacy of our Slack channels. Let us know your thoughts ⬇️ #DuoLingo #Viral #SocialMedia #SocialMediaNews #Marketing #LastestNews

  • If you’re finding the Instagram algorithm isn’t in your favour, keep reading ⬇️ It’s our lucky day, Adam Mosseri the head of Instagram, shared how the Instagram algorithm decides which posts get all the glory, and we’re here to break it down for you. Instagram’s ranking is based on connected reach (your followers) and unconnected reach (non-followers). So, whether you’re posting to your loyal fans or hoping to go viral, there’s hope for everyone. The top 3 ranking factors are: watch time, likes and shares. Overall, likes are the most important, they are the golden ticket to gain potential followers. If you want to climb the feed rankings, Mosseri’s got 4 rules for maximum reach: 1. Kind of obvious, but use audio – especially for photos and carousels.  2. Keep your videos under 3 minutes – if it’s any longer people are probably swiping.  3. Post original content – make sure your posts add significant value. Don’t just hit copy & paste. 4. Keep your account uniform – If your account is a mess, Instagram’s algorithm isn’t going to be your favour. As a social media company, we’re already on top of these updates, ensuring we maximise every piece of content that goes out on socials and our clients accounts. • If you’ve ever walked into a room and felt like you weren’t meant to be there, read on… That’s where our Senior Account Director, Shaadi Jazaie, started her career. Not senior enough for the meetings. Not ‘experienced’ enough for a voice. Expected to sit back and stay in her lane. Spoiler: she didn’t. And neither do we. With International Women’s Day around the corner, we’ve been reflecting on what it really means to create a workplace where women don’t just have a seat at the table—they have a voice. Social media, much like the corporate world, has long been a space where visibility and influence are skewed. Some voices dominate the conversation while others struggle to be heard. But here at Truffle, we believe that the best ideas, the most impactful campaigns, and the biggest cultural shifts happen when more perspectives are included. That’s why we’ve built a team where everyone is encouraged to contribute, challenge, and lead. So, as we gear up for #IWD2025, we’re asking: 📢 How do you make space for voices that might otherwise be left out? 📢 Who in your team needs a boost to be heard? 📢 And if you’ve ever had to bring your own folding chair—what did that moment teach you? Drop your thoughts below—we’re all ears. 👂 #SocialMediaAgency #Team #WomenInLeadership #IWD2025 #SocialMedia

  • Let’s talk about creative brilliance and what it takes to make a brand stand out from a 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 crowded social feed. Adanola played the long game to build curiosity before introducing Kendall Jenner as the new face of their sleek activewear. The payoff? A polished, share-worthy campaign with the star herself and it’s so nice to see a British activewear company up there with the rest of the American giants. Makes you proud in a funny sort of way. The ultimate match for Bumble Inc. hit our feeds. Her wit, humour and playful side make Amelia Dimoldenberg the perfect person to team up with Bumble in their latest campaign. In mean, who wouldn’t take direct dating advice from the queen of the chicken shop? As we’ve previously discussed on our LinkedIn (take a scroll back!) customers are slowly becoming the new influencers. They’re the new stars as relatability outshines the glossiest influencer partnerships and REFY have nailed it. At Truffle, we live for campaigns like these, they offer inspiration and fuel the ever so important discussion on a Monday morning in the office. Listen as Lucy breaks it all down for you in one video, watch and let us know your favourite one. ⬇️ #CreativeWork #Campaigns #SocialMediaMarketing #Marketing #Inspiration #SocialAgency

Founder & CEO @ Truffle Social | Please call me Ellie; Elizabeth is terribly Elizabethan.

Business owners—is it weird to reach out to old leads you've lost to ask (interrogate) for further feedback? Or is it a step towards growth and integrity? Asking for a friend... 😅 As a business owner, I’ve been reflecting on our new business pipeline and pitch losses. One small but meaningful area that caught my attention was the 4.3% of leads we pitched to but didn’t win. It’s a relatively small number, but I can’t help but feel there’s an opportunity here—not just for potential rekindling of relationships 🔥, but for self-improvement. It's a sad admission but it's the small things that keep me up at night. Knowing very well that our guesses won't necessarily provide an accurate rationale for why certain brands didn't immediately sign on the dotted line and throw their cash 💰 at us, I’m considering implementing a process where, twice a year, I directly reach out to some of these past leads to ask a simple but crucial question: ***“Where did we fall short?”*** At Truffle Social, one of our key values is integrity, and that means being open to feedback, embracing humility, and always striving to be better. Would reaching out in this way come across as genuine and constructive, or could it risk seeming intrusive? PLEASE share thoughts below! 👇 Asking for a friend—that friend is me. #businesstips #businessdevelopment #pitching

  • Are Customers Becoming the New Influencers? 👥 For years, we’ve seen brands rely on influencers with huge followings to inform others and boost sales. However, as the trust in these influencers begins to fade and customers are seeking genuine, authentic recommendations, are we seeing traditional influencer marketing slowly die out? More and more brands are adjusting their strategies to focus on building organic, real relationships with people who genuinely love their products. By fostering these relationships, customers can become the ultimate brand advocates, without the hefty price tag. Community driven events, rather than paid influencer trips are becoming the new norm. Companies like REFY, Topicals and Sisters and Seekers are leading the way in this new era, and have created strong communities that become part of the brands journey and spread positivity all over social channels. So, do you think 2025 will be a new age in influencer marketing as customers begin to have the biggest influence over others buying decisions? Let us know your thoughts ⬇️ #InfluencerMarketing #SocialMediaMarketing #SocialAgency #Instagram #BrandCommunity #Customers
