About us
Member-focused and community-driven, we’re the collective voice campaigning for positive change: for people, for businesses and for the future of hospitality. We speak on behalf of a wide range of leisure and ‘out-of-home’ businesses, from FTSE 100 enterprises to niche groups and independent single-site operators, as well as 6,000 affiliated operators. Engaging with government, the media and the public, UKHospitality works to develop a robust case on how to unlock the industry’s full potential as the biggest engine for growth in the economy and ensure that the industry’s needs are effectively represented. Created in 2018 by the merger of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) and the British Hospitality Association (BHA), UKHospitality is the single voice for the hospitality industry bringing together businesses from all aspects of hospitality: coffee shops, hotels, serviced apartments, pubs, restaurants, leisure parks, nightclubs, contract caterers, entertainment, wedding venues, holiday homes, bowling alleys, visitor attractions and more.

We attended an industry roundtable at Number 10 with the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary on drink spiking. The meeting discussed spiking prevention and a commitment from the UK Home Office to roll out further training to hospitality team members. We're committed to working with the Home Office on the rollout of the scheme. UKHospitality members can exclusively access guidance on this subject, including advice on prevention and what do to if an incident unfortunately occurs in your premises here: https://lnkd.in/eTEj9W3x Yesterday, our CEO Kate Nicholls OBE told BBC Breakfast that the rollout of further training for hospitality staff on drink spiking is very welcome news.

Immensely proud of our Director, Sylvia Oates CBII for being invited to the Violence Against Women and Girls Roundtable at 10 Downing Street this morning. The Prime Minister outlined the government's plans to make #spiking a specific offence, asking those around the table about the important work already taking place, what else needs to be done, and where the partnership opportunities lie to address this invasive and often life-altering crime. It was an honour to be invited to 10 Downing Street today to meet with the Prime Minister and other leading government officials, senior police officers, hospitality and transport leaders to talk about a collaborative support to #Spiking. It was a privilege to discuss the great partnership work already being delivered, and how the industry, together with existing industry-supported initiatives such as Best Bar None and Ask For Angela, are ready to play an important part in supporting anyone who is concerned they may have been spiked. Thank you to my Six Till Six colleagues Iwona Kossek, David Randall, Isaac Alcántara Heatlie, Helen Dawes and Grace Pollard for all your hard work on Best Bar None and Ask for Angela. As I said to you earlier, team - the Prime Minister himself asked me to thank you!

UKHospitality has warned that the government’s industrial strategy risks shutting out the majority of the people in the country. Consultation on the strategy, which is the UK government’s proposed ten-year plan for the economy, closed yesterday (Sunday, 24 November). UKHospitality said it focuses only on a small number of high economic productivity sectors. 👉 For the full version of this story and to read it first sign up to the Propel email newsletter for free: https://lnkd.in/eyy_THzR

This week has a busy week across the UKHospitality team. In Scotland, we held our tech, AI and networking evening. We were joined by 50 members to hear presentations and discussions on the ways in which digital technology is driving change across hospitality and how AI can support businesses. With speakers from Traveltech for Scotland, Zonal, MERCHANT LEISURE LIMITED, Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort and Crerar Hotels. Our UKHospitality Cymru Director, David Chapman attended a Food 7 Cymru dinner in London alongside Welsh MPs and Food 7 Cymru colleagues. A great opportunity to discuss key issues relevant to our Welsh member businesses, alongside FDF Cymru, NFU (National Farmers' Union) Cymru, FUW, and Association of Convenience Stores. We attended Peach 20/20 Leader Summit, where our CEO Kate Nicholls OBE joined Robin Rowland OBE to discuss the current political landscape. It was announced this week that inflation rose to 2.3%, which was higher than expected. We used this opportunity to continue the pressure on Government to look again at the policy. You can write to your MP to explain the impact of the employer NICs increase on your business, here: https://lnkd.in/e7NPgJFZ With less than a month to go, we're down to our final few tickets for our Christmas lunch. What if sustainability could be the secret to building a loyal, motivated workforce? 💼💚 UKHospitality supplier member Nutritics’ latest report with CGA by NIQ highlights the growing importance of sustainability in the workplace for today’s workforce, who increasingly prioritise their employer’s commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals. Sustainability isn’t just a concern for consumers – it's also shaping employees' decisions about where they work and how they feel about their roles. 💡 Commenting on the findings, Stephen Nolan, CEO of Nutritics, said: "Growing awareness of the climate crisis and the environmental impacts of food and drink means sustainability will be a more important issue in hospitality than ever before in 2025 – not least in recruiting, motivating and retaining staff."
