The morning after the training day before... As is tradition - well, since yesterday, a delegates' assembly photo for those who didn’t have to rush off! If we look relaxed, it’s because we’ve just wrapped up a session on mindfulness strategies for handling more stressful situations, led by the incredible Will Crawford. Working in school-delivery roles for universities attracts the loveliest people. We’re back for a Christmas special on December 17th, with bookings opening this week. The tree is from last year.. but he is coming back, armed with treats and a present for all those attending.

Of all the positive news I’ll see today, nothing will top this. This is incredible. A huge shout-out to the Uni Connect networks and colleagues, including those no longer in their roles due to funding dropping from £60 million in 2020 to £20 million in 2024, you are all a huge part of this success. The £60 million invested in 2020 to support Year 9 students is now resulting in record numbers of disadvantaged students securing university places in 2024, as they reach Year 13. For all the monitoring, postcode gathering, and everything else, this data clearly shows the impact of your fantastic work in removing barriers to higher education. You should be so proud.

Clearing is a very flawed way to have to choose how to spend £30,000, but with some preparation prospective students do have the opportunity to make informed decisions.
