Exciting news! Our consortium, led by zero-emission vessel provider ACUA Ocean in key partnership with zero-emission infrastructure provider Unitrove, has won a multi million pound UK government grant to build and showcase the world’s first liquid hydrogen autonomous vessel and bunkering infrastructure technologies. This project, known as “Hydrogen Innovation – Future Infrastructure & Vessel Evaluation and Demonstration (HI-FIVED),” is expected to be delivered in autumn of 2024 and aims to establish a domestic green shipping corridor between Aberdeen and the Orkney and Shetland Islands, using hydrogen-powered autonomous ships to transport cargo, and our liquid hydrogen innovative bunkering solutions. The HI-FIVED project is part of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 3 (CMDC3), which was announced in September 2022, funded by the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom for Transport and delivered in partnership with Innovate UK. As part of the CMDC3, the Department allocated £60m to 19 flagship projects supported by 92 UK organisations to deliver real world demonstration R&D projects in clean maritime solutions. Projects will take place in multiple locations around the UK from as far north as the Shetland Isles and as far south as Cornwall. Check out the full press release to learn more about our winning consortium, including key players in the maritime industry such as the Port of Aberdeen, University of Southampton, Zero Emissions Maritime Technology (ZEM Tech), Composite Manufacturing & Design, Trident Marine Electrical, and NASH Maritime Ltd. We’re thrilled to be a part of this innovative project and look forward to leading the way towards a greener, more sustainable future for the maritime industry. #Maritime2050 #BuildBackGreener #FutureofTransport #UKSHORE #CMDC3

Creating a Virtuous World Powered Entirely by Clean, Affordable and Reliable Energy
About us
Unitrove delivers zero-emission fuelling infrastructure for heavy-duty transport and industry supplying zero-carbon fuels including liquid hydrogen (LH2), compressed gaseous hydrogen (CGH2), and renewable electricity. Unitrove provides nano-scale, transportable, self-contained zero-emission fuelling infrastructure as a service. Unitrove is developing a novel Zero-Emission Multi-Fuel Station (ZEMFS) that is capable of fuelling zero-emission vehicles with three different types of fuels: liquid hydrogen, compressed gaseous hydrogen and renewable electricity. Designed to the latest standards, incorporating all the necessary safety features and digital innovations, ZEMFS in its smallest configuration is a portable fuelling module that can be forklifted into a truck for transportation to a remote site. Portable and compact unlike traditional largescale fixed fuelling infrastructure installations, it can be rapidly deployed or relocated within a matter of minutes, providing flexibility to users. Having delivered the world’s first LH2 bunkering facility, which was showcased at the UN COP 26 Climate Change conference in 2021, Unitrove will demonstrate its technology by fuelling an autonomous liquid hydrogen vessel at the Port of Aberdeen in by March 2025. Unitrove’s mission is to create a virtuous world powered by clean, affordable, reliable, sustainable, modern energy. The company aligns its vision in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Twitter: @Unitrove Instagram: @UnitroveUK

Fantastic first day of the Society & Sea 2024 #socsea24 event organised by National Maritime Massive Thanks to Peter Green, Caylee Gutsell and the team! It was great to have Steven Lua be part of the panel discussion 'Navigating the Seas of New Technology'. One highlight from this discussion is that innovative technologies are only part of the solution. A wider ecosystem (including the government, public & private stakeholders, industry, others in the supply chain, policy makers etc) is needed for these solutions to develop and scale.

Over the past week, I have had the opportunity to start to engage with the fantastic community of SME innovators that we are supporting at Connected Places Catapult. It was a pleasure to meet up with Unitrove Innovation to learn about the work they are doing to develop the world’s first liquid hydrogen bunkering facility for zero-emission ships. We have been working with the team since 2021 through the Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG) programme that we deliver on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom. We will be supporting their next project which aims to extend their technology to aircraft and drones through exploring the feasibility of adapting their existing liquid hydrogen fuelling system for use in aviation. This is just 1 of 41 projects being funded in the current TRIG cohort and I am very excited to track the progress of all of these innovations over the coming months. Discover the full cohort 👉 https://lnkd.in/emHVJ23T I also had the opportunity to speak with Chrome Angel Solutions, Co-You and CrossTech who will be trialling their technologies as part of our Station Innovation Zone at Bristol Temple Meads. This is part of our Innovate UK funded programme working closely with Network Rail and Great Western Railway (GWR) to advance technologies that improve the passenger experience at stations. Find out more about the upcoming trials in Bristol: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eMjBUBSd Over the coming months I look forward to meeting many more of the inspiring organisations that we are supporting across the Catapult. @Connected Places Catapult #TRIG #StationInnovationZone #Innovation #Technology #Cities #Transport #PlaceLeadership #Hydrogen #Maritime #Aviation #Rail #Stations
