The Glasgow University Women’s Club have two wonderful upcoming events in March: International Women's Day Afternoon Tea Saturday, 8th of March, 2.00pm  The Corner Bar and Restaurant at the London City Hotel, E1 1EE  The cost is £28.50pp, which includes a classic afternoon tea and a glass of prosecco. RSVP by 28 February   Spring Lunch Saturday 29 March, 1.00pm for 1.30pm St. Columba’s Church of Scotland, Knightsbridge, SW1X 0BD The cost is £25pp and guests are welcome. Lunch will include a cold buffet, dessert, wine, tea and coffee The speaker will be Dr Mandy Johnstone (MBChB, 2004), Academic Consultant Psychiatrist, Institute of Psychiatry/South London & Maudsley, on the topic ‘The New Dawn in Genomic Medicine. What are the opportunities and challenges in Psychiatry?’ RSVP by 21 March. Dietary requirements can be accommodated. It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without a little UofG love story ❤️   This winter, Glasgow grads Amy & Ross tied the knot at the University, a place which holds special significance for the happy couple - especially Amy, who’s siblings also got married at the chapel, and who’s dad was a lecturer in Mathematics!   “Growing up, the University of Glasgow was always the chosen place for me to study, having visited my dad at work as young girl it felt like a very familiar and welcoming choice to pursue my further studies... It is such a beautiful setting unlike any other and with the addition of my older siblings who also studied at Glasgow and chose to have their own weddings at the chapel, it was only natural that it would be our wedding venue choice too. I loved how for many members of my family particularly my dad the University Chapel was able to spark so many lovely memories." A massive congratulations to Dr Erin Macdonald, PhD, winner of the Culture & Creativity Award in the USA at the British Council #StudyUKAlumniAwards 🎉🏆 At the award ceremony in LA this weekend, Erin received the prestigious award in recognition of her success as (amongst other things) the first female science advisor for the Star Trek franchise!
