Honoured that our Founder Kofi Oppong participated in Tuesday's important roundtable discussion at 10 Downing Street, invited by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). The discussion focused on the new Civil Society Covenant alongside key stakeholders including Social Enterprise UK (SEUK). This important initiative aims to strengthen partnerships between government and civil society organisations. SEUK's briefing highlights the need for tangible commitments to ensure effective implementation across all levels of government. Thank you to DCMS for bringing together diverse voices to shape the future of collaboration between government and civil society partners. #CivilSociety #SocialImpact #UKGov #DCMS #UrbanMB Peter Holbrook CBE James Wright Scott Darraugh Plunkett UK @Rebecca Smith MA MCIPD Kofi Oppong NCVO Tom Laing Leila O'Sullivan Dominic Kendal-Ward Emily Darko Baroness Glenys Thornton Rose Marley Fiona Murray (she/her) Naomi T. An award-winning charity that delivers enterprise and employability training to the people considered as NEETS
About us
We are an award winning charity that delivers enterprise and employability training. Our enterprise training program, Urban MBA is designed to reach young adults who are what is described as NEETs (Not in Education, Employment or Training). They need a new way of communicating to absorb lessons. Urban MBA uses language and communication tools to which they can relate and understand. Urban MBA illustrates points using cultural references and metaphors relevant to young disengaged adults means that they ‘get it’. For example, we use sport, music and fashion to demonstrate relatively boring subjects such as finance and accounts in a way that can be understood and is relevant. We are seen as a University for Street Entrepreneurs! URBAN MBA’S MISSION AND VISION Our mission is to reach out to these young adults who do not have the required experience or knowledge, and help them transform into successful entrepreneurs. Our vision is to create a world where no young person is lost or left aside. EVIDENCE OF NEED “It’s not an attention problem, it’s an 8-second filter” (McKnisey & Company) The recent headline-grabbing studies suggest that Gen Z attention spans have shrunk to eight seconds and that they’re unable to focus for extended amounts of time. However, we found that Gen Z actually have what we’re calling highly evolved “eight-second filters.”
