The #CERAWeek Podcast featuring our CEO Francesco Mazzagatti is now live.   In a discussion with Atul Arya, Chief Energy Strategist at S&P Global, Francesco considers the future of UK energy, underscoring the need for continued investment to sustain North Sea production and adapt to a shifting energy landscape. 

Our CEO Francesco Mazzagatti will be joining #CERAWeek 2025 as a speaker. This year’s conference topic is: “Moving Ahead: Energy strategies for a complex world”. Alongside other industry leaders, Francesco will discuss the challenges ahead for energy security, supply, and climate ambitions.

Last year, Viaro Energy worked closely with local charities to support their important work. Throughout 2024, Viaro is proud to have worked with over 40 charities, giving back to the local community and supporting those who need it most across the UK. Projects have included providing families with essential supplies, including maternity bundles and children’s clothing and toys, as well as ensuring food security by supporting food banks and community pantries. We have also worked with charities supporting adults with learning difficulties and those promoting mental wellbeing and reducing the stigma surrounding men’s mental health. Donald Trump’s call to open up the North Sea has “the potential to cause a sea change”, our Chief Executive Officer Francesco Mazzagatti told The Epoch Times. As key players in the industry seek to invest elsewhere due to high taxes and exploration bans, the UK’s environmental ambitions have sparked concern given the lack of clarity over the effects of potential job losses and the impact on domestic energy security. Viaro is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement to acquire Evoterra, the integrated transition energy company with onshore assets in the UK and Germany. The deal marks Viaro’s entry into the production of renewable energy, as well as the traditional energy market in Germany.  The acquisition demonstrates Viaro’s commitment to a sustainable energy transition, adopting assets that support both short-term energy security through the exploitation of existing licences as well as the development of renewable energy production. Viaro Energy CEO, Francesco Mazzagatti, commented “We were very pleased when the opportunity to acquire Evoterra presented itself, as it offers a great balance between tapping into our core strengths and diversifying our portfolio in a stable and contained manner. A perceptive piece from our Chief Executive Officer Francesco Mazzagatti illuminating the potential consequences of the windfall tax extension has been published in Gulf Energy Information’s Petroleum Economist Outlook 2025. He describes the Energy Profit Levy as a “substantial financial burden” and warns that deterred investment could result in the termination of domestic oil and gas production, jeopardising the UK’s energy security and economic stability. This would leave the UK dependent on imports and therefore vulnerable to geopolitical shocks, as well as leading to job losses across the supply chain. Francesco reaffirms Viaro’s commitment to working with policymakers and stakeholders to establish a stable and predictable fiscal regime that prioritises UK energy and job security, as well as supporting a sustainable transition by exploring new technologies to enhance production and reduce the environmental impact of production.
