Another week, another conference - this time in Binghamton, NY! I was privileged to be on a panel discussion with experts Karli Steranka, P.E., Brian Humbarger, Brian Engle and Anthony Natale discussing #Fire and #Safety for Li-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems (#BESS) at the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology Consortium (NY-BEST) Fall Technology Conference. This is essential work for #decarbonization and #electrification going forward. I shared Arup's progress developing methods to use Viper::Blast and statistical methods to estimate vapor cloud explosion hazards from BESS. Having never been to Binghamton, I'd recommend it! Beautiful fall colors, fun little downtown, and a nice old through-truss bridge for the fellow bridge nerds out there... Special thanks to Julia Abboud, Veronica Goldsmith, PE and others in Arup for their contributions to these efforts and on this project! #weareArup | Viper Applied Science
