On 27 September 1825, George Stephenson’s steam-powered Locomotion No. 1 transported hundreds of passengers in England for 26 miles between Shildon, Darlington and Stockton, charging one shilling for their travel and marking the start of a journey that would shape the modern world. Today we commemorate its journey through a UK £2 coin in partnership with The Royal Mint. Happy 200th anniversary - we're on track for a bumper year with 100+ events planned across the UK so far. #Railway200 https://lnkd.in/eyzWCszA
