Quick visit to Coventry to meet with the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership board. We had some great discussions around how the three partners (Shakespeare's England, Destination Coventry and Warwickshire County Council ) can develop a shared delivery approach to maximise resources, looking forward to seeing how it evolves. It was good to be at Coventry Building Society Arena for the meeting, a real regional success story. The business has seen revenue growth of 36% in conferences and exhibitions and more than 12% growth in number of events on the equivalent six-month period last year. It is great to see this vital #conference and #events business returning, much of it from UK based businesses - so important for growing the visitor economy across our regions. Coventry Arena has its own train station too! Well done Paul Michael and team. Paula Deas MBE | Darren Tosh | Paul M McMahon | Tara Robinson | Victoria Borwick | VisitEngland | Paul Black

VisitEngland Advisory Board Chairman Victoria Borwick took a walking tour of Leeds to explore key tourism products essential to driving growth in the local economy, and met with key stakeholders and members of the West Yorkshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership (LVEP), to gain further insight into the LVEP and their priorities for building a stronger and more resilient visitor economy. Tourism is positively impacting the region, contributing £5.77 billion to the local economy of West Yorkshire alone as well as supporting over 52,000 full time jobs. The West Yorkshire LVEP is part of a wider network of LVEPs spread across England, under the leadership of VisitEngland. The LVEPs along with the foundation of the two pilot Destination Development Partnerships (DDPs), set regional priorities for the visitor economy and receive government funding to focus on key objectives. The DDP pilots are being run in the North East of England and the West Midlands. The DDP framework is focused on building a stronger, more resilient tourism industry, which nationally supports 2.6 million jobs in England and contributes £106 billion to the economy.

Happy #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities! 16 million people in the UK have a disability – that’s nearly one in four of us. Accessible Tourism is a fundamental need for millions of visitors who rely on having places to visit and stay that can accommodate their needs and make them feel welcome. Becoming an accessible business is also good for your bottom line, the spending power of disabled people is worth £14.6 billion and businesses that meet accessibility needs often see repeat bookings from loyal customers. Want to know where to start? Take a look at our #BusinessAdviceHub accessibility pages for a host of advice, tools and resources to help you start becoming more accessible: https://brnw.ch/21wP9YL #IDPWD #accessibility #AccessibleTourism #BusinessSupport ##PurplePound #EnglishTourism #SmallBusiness #SMEs #Accommodation #VisitorAttractions #VisitorExperiences Pic credit: Forestry England/Crown Copyright
