🌟🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that VivaCity, in partnership with Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and West Midlands Combined Authority, have won two prestigious awards at the Intelligent Transport Systems UK Awards 2024! This is in recognition of TfWM's region-wide road safety project and the innovative application of VivaCity's groundbreaking AI-powered near miss solution, to identify incident hotspots and build a safer road network. The two awards were: 🏆 Better Safety through Technology 🏆 Best Project of the Year (This top honour recognises the most impactful and innovative project, chosen from all submissions) And what is equally exciting is seeing this project in full steam, with potential hazardous sites already emerging, and the work being done to prevent incidents before they happen and save lives ❤️ We're committed to supporting TfWM in their vision to make roads better and safer for the community. 🙏 Thanks Steve Norris, Max Sugarman and the whole ITS team for putting together a great event, and for presenting us with the awards. 🙌 And congratulations to our colleagues who have been working hard to deliver this project, and everyone else behind the scenes helping develop the near miss technology, including Darren Divall, Shane Foley, Raquel Velasco, Matt Shaw, Flora McFarlane, Cleo W., Carl Pittam and Vitor Kono, to name a few. 👨👩👦🚴♀️🚸🎒🌟 We’re super excited to highlight how VivaCity played a pivotal role in supporting West Sussex County Council enhance safety of children and parents on their school journeys, and secure extra funding to deliver more impactful projects! Our cutting-edge AI-powered traffic sensors have been providing high quality data during the trial periods, giving the transport teams a clear picture of how the schemes are performing, helping secure permanent traffic restrictions around three local schools: Arundel Church of England Primary, Thomas A Becket Junior, and Swiss Gardens Primary. As a result of these insights, West Sussex CC has secured an impressive £1M capital grant from Active Travel England for further active travel improvements in 2024/25. Here are some of the key upgrades, all using VivaCity sensors to collect multimodal, real-time data: ✔ Enhanced signalised crossings, including an upgraded uncontrolled crossing at Lavant CE Primary. ✔ A new segregated cycle track on Lancing Beach Green to reduce pedestrian/cycle conflicts on the shared path. ✔ Transforming the puffin crossing on Felpham Way, Bognor Regis to a toucan crossing to support walking, cycling and wheeling to Felpham Community College and Downview Primary School. ✔ A new puffin crossing outside West Worthing station. ✔ Footpath enhancements at Birchwood Grove CP School ✔ A new shared pedestrian and cyclist path at Yapton Primary School.
