It was a great honour to present the Inerter Pantograph project with Pedro Antunes at the Railway Industry Association Electrification & Decarbonisation Group event last week at IRR, The University of Huddersfield. We stimulated much industrial interest with our achieved results: 60% reduction in both contact loss time and contact force oscillation. It was good to have Matt Askill MIET from Brecknell Willis & Co Ltd, a Wabtec Company, who has provided strong support in the design process. Many thanks again to Richard Stainton and Shantel Cox for their important support from Network Rail. It's great to hear from Philip Doughty's quarterly update on embedding cost effective electrification initiatives, and from Tom Kemp and Rambali R. on the impressive The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU). It was also good to chat with David Clarke and Fiona Broomfield MCIPR about how to engage further with the Railway Industry Association and railbusinessdaily.com. Well done our team University of Bristol Engineering. Many thanks for the technical and funding support from Network Rail Richard Stainton, also to our collaborators: The University of Huddersfield Pedro Antunes, and Brecknell Willis & Co Ltd, a Wabtec Company Matt Askill MIET, Sarah Stant FCIM CMktr.

We are proud to be part of this fantastic collaboration and look forward to hearing Jason Zheng Jiang present the Interter Pantograph Project at the Railway Industry Association Electrification & Decarbonisation Group on Tuesday.
I’ll be giving a talk next Tuesday with Pedro Antunes, at the Electrification & Decarbonisation Group event. We will demonstrate a novel pneumatic actuator with 60% reduction in pantograph-catenary contact loss and contact force oscillation, contributing to Net-Zero Transportation and Infrastructure Sustainability. With machine learning and intelligent computing, we are unlocking even bigger performance enhancement potential. Look forward to the forthcoming discussions with industrial experts. Many thanks for the technical and funding support from Network Rail Richard Stainton, also to our collaborators: The University of Huddersfield Pedro Antunes, and Brecknell Willis & Co Ltd, a Wabtec company Matt Askill MIET Sarah Stant FCIM CMktr. Well done our team University of Bristol! Many thanks to the Railway Industry Association for organising the event, and the IRR at The University of Huddersfield for hosting. On the 18th September, Emma Fox, Group Account Manager arranged for a litter pick at a local reservoir and nature reserve. The team at Chard collected nearly 3 bags of litter in just over 2 hours on Wednesday evening. A lovely time was had by all, with plenty of giggles along the way. It was a really rewarding event giving back to the local community. Well done to the team!

On Wednesday, Wabtec UK’s Barton facility received a visit from John Olin, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer and Kyra Yates, VP, Investor Relations from Wabtec Corporation. John and Kyra are currently in the UK as part of a European visit. Whilst in Barton, they were given a tour of our powertrain, door and electronic overhaul facilities. In addition, they also spent time at Mors Smitt, who manufacture components including relays, safety critical electronics and complete measuring and control solutions. It was a great opportunity for them to see the work undertaken in the UK, in particular the transformation activities recently carried out across the site.
