Wallace Instruments plastimeters – innovation through the years! The journey of plastimeter development involved extensive research to understand how test parameters affect results. Precise temperature control has always been key to ensuring accurate, repeatable and reliable testing. In the early days, the platens of the Wallace P1 and P12 models were steam-heated, resulting in significant temperature fluctuations. Today’s P14 Plastimeter features electrically heated platens, offering exceptional temperature stability and control for consistent, high-quality results. Wallace Instruments is proud to have served the rubber industry for nearly 80 years, continually improving our instruments to deliver the most accurate testing results. Follow us to stay updated on our latest innovations! Thanks to Mário Caetano for the picture! #RubberIndustry #RubberTesting Chris Norval Mary Norval George Bates RUBBER HEART

Manufacturers worldwide conduct accelerated fatigue testing on a range of rubber products, from tyre sidewalls and conveyor belts to hoses, seals and footwear soles, all of which must endure repeated flexing in service without developing cracks. This testing is essential for product development and quality control, ensuring these items meet durability and performance standards in demanding applications. By simulating real-world stresses through controlled conditions - such as variable temperatures and cycle counts - this process relies on precision testing machinery capable of evaluating multiple samples at once to provide critical data. The range of Wallace Instruments De Mattia Flexing Machines, completely designed, manufactured and assembled by our sister company, TENON Engineering, offers the capability to test 12, 24, or 36 samples simultaneously in an unheated chamber or an oven reaching up to 150°C. Built to meet international standards, these machines include a Hengstler cycle counter for tracking 9 to 999,999 cycles per test, internal illumination for easy inspection, and a balanced main shaft for smooth operation. With robust construction and straightforward loading, the Wallace De Mattia is engineered to support reliable fatigue testing. Natural rubber producers rely on Mooney viscosity testing for quality assurance. It is the most commonly used test method for characterising raw rubber, providing data on the viscous flow of materials to differentiate between grades and giving rubber product manufacturers assurance of consistent processability. Across plantations worldwide, the Wallace Instruments Mooney Viscometer Mk III has become the industry’s trusted workhorse, perfectly suited for these environments with its durable mechanical system, precise digital temperature control, automatic operation, and software for easy data recording and printing. In rubber product manufacturing, Mooney viscometers are also used in labs for quality control, formulation adjustments, and process optimisation, ensuring compounded rubbers meet strict specifications before moving to final production. ⚽ A few weeks ago we traded our precision testing instruments for pitch-side excitement at the Dorking Wanderers FC Women’s team photo event for shirt sponsors. It was great to stand alongside our sister company and fellow sleeve sponsor, TENON Engineering, in front of the Stonegate Homes stand at Meadowbank Football Ground. Since the club started in 2020, it’s been amazing to see how far they've come. Meeting Chairman Calum Best, Management team Louise Cooper and Kerry Knott, the rest of the staff and the players really showed us the dedication behind their progress in the London & South East Premier Division. It's great to be part of such an inclusive and welcoming club. At Wallace Instruments, we’re known for delivering rubber testing equipment to customers around the world, but our local roots are just as important. Being part of the community isn’t just about having our name on the sleeve - it’s about being there, sharing in the ups and downs, and soaking in the fantastic atmosphere. Thanks to everyone at Dorking Wanderers Women FC for such a brilliant experience! Can't wait to get back to Meadowbank for the next game! #WomenInFootball #WomensFootball #ForwardTogether #RubberIndustry HelloDorking Stonegate Homes Limited Lisa Edwards Ollie Gout Stuart M. 🌍 During the summer, Phillip Adaway and Anthony Mewse from Wallace Instruments headed to West Africa for service and calibration visits at the Liberia Agricultural Company and Okomu plantation in Nigeria. We think they captured some great shots of the amazing natural rubber industry along the way (as well as some great selfies!) and we wanted to share these with you. They also made a stop in Abidjan for a productive meeting with our local agents at CEDCHPA, and were very happy to be treated to a tour of the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium – stay watching until the end!
