"We make sure that we use the national curriculum in the countries where we implement and we gamify this curriculum. So if you see the games, you will see different versions of them, whether in terms of the content or in terms of the design. And when we talk about the design, that's where children have the choice about how the game looks like, about the characters, about the landscape. The sense and feel of the game - it was really all done with children." –Marwa Zahr, Can't Wait to Learn Implementation and Scaling Lead at War Child and Yidan Prize Laureate, during a recent interview on CGTN. Co-creation is at the heart of Can't Wait to Learn, ensuring that its content is relevant, engaging, and culturally sensitive. This collaborative process not only motivates children but also fosters a sense of agency, transforming them into active participants in their education journey. 🤝✨Through co-creation, we’re not just shaping education—we’re empowering a generation to rewrite their futures. 📺 Watch the full news segment: https://lnkd.in/dwD4UjTe

✨ Reflecting on 2024, I’m filled with gratitude and inspiration. Colleagues from War Child, Save the Children Nederland and a network of incredible partners, allowed children facing unimaginable hardships to have had the chance to move, express, and heal. TeamUp is more than just an intervention—it’s a way for children to overcome traumatic events, strengthen their resilience, grow stronger and happier. Through movement and creative expression, children find ways to cope, develop emotional strength, and regain hope for the future. This year, we globally reached thousands of children, thanks to the commitment and energy of our partners and TeamUp trainers and facilitators worldwide. 🌟 To our global partners Save the Children Nederland, Save the Children International, SOS Children's Villages International, SOS Villaggi dei Bambini - Italia, CCH Sri Lanka, @ISA, War Child Nederland and so many more—thank you for our unwavering collaboration. Together, we support children to heal, grow, and thrive, helping them dream big and shine. Here’s to a 2025 full of new collaborations, greater impact, and new opportunities to awaken the sparkle within every child, helping them keep their smiles and dreams alive, despite the many challenges they face. 🌍💫

  • 🌍 The 2024 UN Global Humanitarian Overview presents a shocking assessment of how civilians have been impacted by conflict and disaster. For War Child this is one of the starkest global updates we have seen in our time. Not since 1946 – following the end of the second world war – have we seen this degree of displacement, hunger, killing and sexual violence, being driven by conflict. And it is children that are bearing the brunt.   ▶️ One in five children worldwide are currently living in or fleeing from conflict zones.   ▶️ In Ukraine, at least 16 children have been killed or injured every week since the war began.   ▶️ More women and children were killed in Gaza over the past year than the equivalent period of any other conflict over the past two decades.   The solutions are clear, yet global humanitarian need is being driven by an increasing disregard for international humanitarian law, and failure to hold those who commit grave violations, to account. Accountability is crucial to protect civilians and aid workers and to ensure that people can access assistance and protection when they need it most.   For decades humanitarian need has vastly outweighed funding. Critical provision like Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) are more crucial than ever in conflict zones due to the immense toll violence, displacement, and instability take on children and their families. In these areas, people face trauma, grief, and anxiety, which can have long-lasting effects on their ability to heal and rebuild their lives.   Effective humanitarian response requires states to act in solidarity with those in need and to commit to the full funding of humanitarian appeals. Without this, generations of children will continue to face a bleak and broken future.

It's not just about teaching—it’s about creating hope, resilience, and opportunities for children in the most challenging circumstances. With the invaluable support of the Yidan Prize, War Child is scaling Can’t Wait to Learn, unlocking learning and potential for crisis-affected children no matter where they are. Together, we are helping children dream again. 💡 #UnlockLearningForAll #CantWaitToLearn #EdTech #EducationInEmergencies

  • In a first of its kind report, our Gaza-based partner Community Training Centre for Crisis Management asked injured, separated and disabled children and their caregivers about the toll of the ongoing war on their lives. This study however represents just a small number of the more than 1.1 million children in Gaza - all of whom need urgent psychological support. We have already reached more than 17,000 children with vital mental health care, but we need a bigger response and stronger action to reach the thousands more that need support.
