Today, our Training Manager, Craig Coates, spent the day with our #Marella cadets at Warsash Maritime School (Solent University), answering their questions, discussing their programmes, and offering guidance as they prepare for the next steps in their careers. What stood out was how different each of their stories are. They come from a variety of backgrounds, with unique experiences shaping their journeys so far. But there is one thing they had in common-they’re happy with the progress they’ve made and are looking forward to what’s ahead. At Watermark, mentoring isn’t just about providing guidance. It’s about connecting with cadets on a human level—listening, understanding, and building trust. They’re not just future officers to us; they’re individuals we respect and support, and we’re proud to walk alongside them as they grow. #maritime #cadets #cruise #shipping #seafarers

Coaching and mentoring cadets isn’t just a tick-box exercise—it’s the foundation of a successful career at sea. Craig Coates, our Training Manager, shares his thoughts on why a hands-on, trust-driven approach is essential in cadet training. Craig believes, and we wholeheartedly agree, that through trust and genuine support, cadets don’t just learn the basics—they develop the mindset and professionalism that become the foundation of their maritime careers. What do you think of Craig’s point of view? We’d love to hear your insights! #maritime #shipping #cruise #cadets #crewmanagement

In an industry as challenging and dynamic as maritime, we know it’s not enough to follow the same paths as everyone else. At Watermark, we’ve built everything we do around three core principles that we believe truly make a difference: 👉🏻Putting people first From cadets starting their careers to senior officers leading teams, everything we do focuses on supporting people. Whether it’s helping someone navigate the challenges of life at sea or building stronger crew dynamics, we know success starts with the people onboard. 👉🏻Real experience, Real solutions With years spent both at sea and ashore, we’ve faced the same challenges our clients encounter every day. That experience shapes how we approach problems—with practical, thoughtful solutions that work in the real world. 👉🏻Preparing for the Future Whether it’s new technologies, regulations, or expectations, we’re focused on helping the people and companies we work with adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving environment. We had one mission this year: to raise standards and make a lasting impact in the maritime industry. Looking back on 2024, we’re proud of the incredible achievements we’ve made alongside our industry partners. Here are some of the highlights from this year – we can’t wait to continue our journey in 2025. Happy New Year everyone! 🎉 #maritime #cruise #shipping #crewmanagement

As we approach the end of 2024, we’re not just looking back—we’re looking forward. With every challenge we’ve faced, we’ve gained new insights, and with every success, we’ve been reminded of the potential ahead. Here’s a glimpse of what shaped our year at Watermark: 🌟 This year, we’ve focused on more than just guiding cadets through training. We’ve listened, learned, and worked to prepare them for the realities of life at sea. 🌟 Launching our Crew Management services wasn’t just about logistics; it was about finding new ways to support crews, build morale, and create teams that genuinely want to stick around. 🌟 We’ve spent the year working with ship and shore teams to strengthen leadership, foster accountability, and build onboard cultures where fairness and performance go hand in hand. To those we’ve worked with, learned from, and shared stories with this year—thank you. Your trust means everything. As 2025 approaches, we’re ready to keep asking the hard questions, finding better answers, and doing it all with purpose. Merry Christmas and a Happy New year! 🎄 #maritime #shipping #cruise #crewmanagement

Running a cruise ship isn’t just about delivering unforgettable experiences—it’s about creating a culture where performance, discipline, and fairness work together seamlessly. When senior officers know how to balance these elements, crew morale improves, operational risks decrease, and guest satisfaction rises. Last week, our Director Alex Downes led leadership workshops aboard 'Ambience' and 'Ambition' from Ambassador Cruise Line at the Port of Tilbury London, working with senior ship and shore-based leaders to strengthen crew management practices through: ✅ Fair Disciplinary Procedures ✅ Creating a Just Culture ✅ Balancing Performance vs. Conduct ✅ Ensuring Fair Hearings for the crew members facing allegations of wrongdoing At Watermark, we offer Consultancy Services designed to help you build strong leadership frameworks that drive operational excellence. Is your team ready to raise the bar? Let’s talk about how we can help your leaders create a culture of fairness and success on board. 📧 Reach out to us at team@watermark.cc #maritime #cruise #shipping
