Co-create offer training for Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) to support innovative models of engagement in primary care and put health inequalities at the heart of their agenda. We recently worked with Suffolk and North East Essex ICS who were very positive about the experience. We can tailor training packages to your needs - if you'd like to learn more, get in touch here or at info@wearecocreate.com and we can book in a chat.

Co-create are committed to valuing the lived experience that our staff and associates bring to our work as equal to our professional experience. But how can we combine these two things that are often seen as so different? Danny Sherwood has written this article exploring how organisations can recognise and reward lived experience to create a better experience for members with lived experience, and better outcomes for the organisation. This area is a passion for us. If you work in public services, or are involved in recruitment or strategy in any sector, Co-create can support you in maximising the value of lived experience through our training and consultancy services. If you'd like an informal chat, connect with us on LinkedIn or at info@wearecocreate.com.
I've been thinking recently about how we can not only make space for lived experience in organisations, but really value and reward it. Going through life challenges teaches us so much, but this knowledge often remains hidden and therefore unused. I wrote this article to help me think through how organisations can make better use of this asset, in the hope that it helps others do the same. I think it's especially relevant if your organisation supports others (e.g. in health or housing), and for anyone involved in recruitment and strategy in any sector. As always, comments and discussion are welcome.

In our next learning lunch we'll explore empathy and how we can actively demonstrate our empathy through the structures and methods we use to involve the people we serve and support. We'd love to see you there.

We're offering a short webinar next Thursday (December 5th) exploring the question "how can we show empathy through our involvement work, especially when we're working in large and often impersonal systems?". It's a half hour session over lunch for anyone who work with patients, tenants, or people and communities more broadly. 'Showing we care: improving involvement through practising empathy' is at 12.30 on December 5th and will explore: * The benefits of demonstrating empathy in our work, and the consequences when it doesn't come across * Finding empathy with those we don't share experience with * Showing our care through our involvement structures and methods You can register below (quick and free). We hope to see you there!

We're happy to announce that Co-create is now fully independent, and no longer part of SYHA Enterprises. This change will allow us greater flexibility in our offer. We will continue to offer the quality services you know us for, and continue to innovate with new ways to support public services in working in partnership with the people they serve. Our brilliant team remains unchanged, and together we’re excited to build on the last eight years of meaningful collaborations.

We had a great day at Active Black Country's Changing Lives Through Movement conference today. It was lovely to meet such a welcoming and inspiring group of people so focused on working meaningfully with their communities. Thanks for having us!
Our Changing Lives Through Movement conference is underway! Around 180 delegates are attending the event at the Molineux. Great start to the day. Amanda Tomlinson, Chair of the Active Black Country Board, kicked off proceedings talking about our strategy and the importance of partners and communities. Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Executive Director of Place at Sport England (pictured bottom right) spoke about their Uniting the Movement strategy & the impacts of place-based expansion and local delivery pilots. "You will not get anywhere if you don't have trust in your local communities - and that takes time. Be stubborn on the vision, be flexible on the detail," Lisa said. #inspiringaction Sport England Active Partnerships

We're excited to announce that the British Journal of General Practice (BJGP) has just published an article on the power of co-production in addressing health inequalities in primary care. It includes a case study of our work with Central Liverpool Primary Care Network on tackling racial health inequalities. The second in August's series of Learning Lunches is about paying participants for involvement. You can find out more and sign up using the link below. There are lots of view on paying participants, ranging from 'it's insulting' to 'it's essential'. We fall more towards the 'it's essential' end of the range, but think it's more complex (and so interesting) than that. How we recognise people's input is part of demonstrating how we value them, so it can be an emotional area to work through. A one-size-fits-all policy is unlikely to meet most organisation's aims as it covers different roles requiring different skills from people with different needs. To help you find your own way through, we'll explore: * Whether we need to pay people * Different models for financial payment * Alternatives and additions to financial reward #CoProduction #ProfessionalDevelopment #PublicServices
