"We've already started to see positive progress in terms of our waiting list size in the first two weeks. Within this timeframe since the unit's been open, we've scoped an additional 336 patients." Kathryn Kelter, Head of Operations for Planned Care at the University Hospitals of North Midlands. We're thrilled to see the positive impact of University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust mobile endoscopy unit. By delivering diagnostics more timely, the solution eases the pressure on hospital services, helping UHNM meet NHS England's target of eliminating overdue surveillance procedures. EMS Healthcare’s mobile unit was quickly commissioned and operational within just five weeks, demonstrating the benefits of rapid installation to provide capacity wherever and whenever it's needed most. The mobile endoscopy solution provided by EMS Healthcare and Medinet features two diagnostic rooms and its own decontamination facility. It is operational seven days a week and aims to facilitate 4,500 appointments, giving patients timely access to essential tests. Currently, there are over 7.5 million unresolved care pathways affecting an estimated 6.4 million individuals in England, with nearly 4 million pathways contributing to a significant backlog accumulated over the last decade. In an NHS environment, maintaining patient care is crucial, a fully–managed mobile clinical space can provide a valuable alternative to closures, refurbishments and decant of facilities. The temporary infrastructure can rapidly boost capacity, mitigate disruption and maintain patient care standards. If you require help with reducing waiting lists and increasing capacity for diagnostic tests, watch our video to see how we can support. According to The Lancet Group, by 2050, 23.4 million UK adults are expected to be living with obesity. The challenge is growing, but at EMS Healthcare, we’re driving solutions through clinical trials. Cancer Research UK (CRUK) reported that obesity increases the risk of 13 types of cancer and disproportionately affects the most deprived communities. And in England, 35% of people in these areas live with obesity, a figure set to rise to 46% by 2040. The UK is perfectly positioned for obesity research. With unparalleled access to patient data, long-term co-morbidities are easy to track due to holistic patient medical records. Plus, unlike the US, the UK has a large population of GLP-1 naïve patients, providing a unique opportunity to study new treatments. At EMS Healthcare, we’re ensuring these vital trials reach the right people through our flexible, community-based research sites. We help to: ✅ Deliver Clinical Trials – Bringing ground-breaking obesity research directly to patients. ✅ Increase Access – Bringing research to underserved communities. ✅ Drive Innovation – Partnering with researchers, pharma, and the NHS to transform obesity care. With investment, innovation, and accessible research, we can create a future where good health is within everyone's reach. Read our latest blog by Andy Morris, EMS Healthcare's Partnership Manager, highlighting the role of community-based clinical trials in driving innovative research, increasing access for underserved communities, and transforming obesity care through strategic partnerships: https://lnkd.in/eYrzkzBG #WorldObesityDay2025 #ClinicalTrials #ObesityResearch #CommunityHealth

With the spring vaccination programme fast approaching, we can help you to increase uptake and improve access to vital immunisations and health services. Our mobile clinics bring essential care closer to communities, providing accessible healthcare in convenient locations like city centres, supermarket car parks, and community hubs. For over 25 years, we have partnered with the NHS and health organisations to support the delivery of vaccinations and health checks across the UK. From Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust's (CWP) Living Well Buses, which have provided over 23,500 vaccinations and 40,000+ health screening tests in just two years, to Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, who are reducing health inequalities by utilising a mobile clinic to boost vaccination uptake and provide essential health checks in rural areas. We are committed to supporting the NHS with improving vaccination rates, enhancing early prevention efforts, and strengthening community healthcare services. We are very excited to launch a new heartburn health check service in #GreaterManchester to help save lives. The three-month project - working with InPhase - will see people at higher risk of developing oesophageal cancer – also known as cancer of the foodpipe – invited for a heartburn health check by their GP. Eligible patients will then visit a mobile clinic which will be parked up at different community locations starting in #Bolton in March. Dr James Britton, Early Diagnosis Clinical Lead for Oesophageal Cancer at Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance, said: “This is an exciting project which we think will make a long-term difference to people’s lives. We know if we find oesophageal cancer at an early or pre-cancerous stage patients can have fantastic outcomes with less invasive treatment. This is much better than waiting for a patient to come to their GP with severe symptoms and more advanced cancer. “Ultimately, we hope this project can save lives through earlier detection. We will be collecting evidence to see if this service can be expanded further and reach more people in the future.” The van is part of a number of “This Van Can” projects being run by the NHS Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance which see mobile vans visiting local communities to help improve early cancer diagnosis and raise awareness about symptoms. But for Gemma, one project stands out: "The NHS-Galleri trial, which recruited 140,000 participants in record speed - I'm so proud of the impact we've had." A new Health and Research Hub has launched, bringing healthcare and research services directly to our local communities 🚑 Developed by NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group (UHLG) in partnership with EMS Healthcare, the mobile hub aims to break down barriers to participation in health research and provide essential services. Examples of services the hub can offer: • Bowel cancer screening • Medical assessments (eg blood pressure, height, weight) • Blood sample collection in a regulated environment. The hub will travel to community centres across the region, making it easier for people to engage in health research and access vital services, all while contributing to studies that could transform healthcare in the area. Professor Terry Jones, Director of Research and Innovation at UHLG, shared: "This initiative enables us to bring cutting-edge research to local communities, opening up critical studies that will improve health across the region." Jules West, Associate Director of Research and Innovation at UHLG, added: "We’re excited to offer both health services and research opportunities to those who can benefit most, ensuring greater accessibility for all." Supported by the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), this hub will play a key role in enhancing health and research opportunities across Merseyside.
