Today, we celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌐 As part of our 12-point action plan, we celebrate where we have got it right by publicly championing supervisors and managers who show a real commitment to diversity and inclusion and how this enhances job satisfaction and improves service delivery. This extends to championing police forces, therefore, we ask police forces across the UK and internally to share one thing they are proud of surrounding diversity and disability. To start the celebrations today, we are sharing with you the highlights video of our recent national conference last September. We were so proud to see representation from every police force in England, Wales, Scotland and PSNI at our Disability in Policing Conference, either in person or online. A first for the DPA! 🎉 We would like to ask you to please share this video to inspire others to champion diversity and disability 🔁

Investing in diversity isn’t just a trend; it’s a strategy for long-term success and resilience. 📈 Diversity fuels #Innovation, enhances problem-solving, and strengthens adaptability, helping businesses stay competitive as markets evolve. 🌱 Improved #CrisisManagement: Research by Deloitte highlights that inclusive companies experience 30% higher #Resilience in the face of disruption. Organisations that embrace diverse viewpoints are better prepared to tackle unexpected challenges and pivot as needed. Stronger Employee Retention: Gartner reports that inclusive workplaces experience 50% lower turnover rates, which reduces recruitment costs and maintains organizational knowledge. This stability strengthens the sustainability of the workforce and fosters a more resilient culture. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Performance: Companies that prioritize diversity and inclusion are also more likely to excel in ESG metrics, which investors increasingly see as markers of long-term sustainability and resilience. For example, diverse organizations score 20% higher on ESG initiatives and show a better track record of social responsibility. These numbers make it clear: Diversity and inclusion are key drivers for building resilient, sustainable organizations that can thrive over the long term. 🌱💼 #SustainableBusiness #DiversityAndInclusion #FutureOfWork #BusinessResilience When we prioritise inclusion, we’re building not just a stronger workforce, but a more sustainable organization ready to face the future. Let’s create workplaces that reflect the diverse world we live in—because the companies that embrace diversity today will be the ones thriving tomorrow. 💪✨ #SustainableBusiness #DiversityMatters #FutureOfWork #ResilientOrganisations

Last week, we had the pleasure of delivering an EDI for Everyone workshop for the brilliant team at SPORTFIVE UK in Altrincham. This interactive, two-hour foundational session explored key concepts around equity, diversity, and inclusion, and I was truly impressed by the level of engagement and honesty from participants. A huge thank you to James Eves for co-hosting with me and helping to create a safe, open space for discussion. SPORTFIVE’s commitment to delivering this session in person for every UK employee is a clear signal of their intent to embed EDI into their culture. It’s a powerful step toward equipping their team with the awareness and tools to foster allyship and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse organisation, sport marketing sector, and society. Looking forward to seeing how these conversations continue to evolve and inspire change! #EDI #Inclusion #Diversity #Allyship #SportMarketing #Progress human.

This year's theme for Trans Awareness week is 'Our Trans Heroes', to highlight the work of those who have helped the community fight for their visibility, and rights. We thought it would be a great opportunity to re share our podcast with Katie Neeves founder of Cool2BTrans and British Diversity Awards Hero of the Year 2023. Katie came out publicly as transgender in 2018 after living for 48 years as a man, risking her livelihood and reputation as a top UK photographer in the process. Katie formed Cool2BTrans to support and inspire other trans people and to educate everyone else about trans people, by showing them that trans people are just ordinary people who want to be happy. Katie shares her journey of becoming her true self, and shines a light on some of the challenges trans people face in society particularly in the workplace and how we can be an ally. https://lnkd.in/esRwDSuz

😔🤔 Friday Feels I like to read and gather knowledge from all over the place - which means sometimes engaging with ideas, people and content which are outside of my comfortable little (not really little) echo chamber. The election results from the US this week has me reflecting on and questioning some of my deep held beliefs and values. Whilst I won't be changing anytime soon, I do think its' important to try and understand 'why' and 'where' the US became so polarised. Trying to help my daughter come to terms with the fact that a ra*ist (insert appropriate letter) is now in the most powerful global leadership position, really isn't easy - and I can't tell her its okay, because I don't think it is. BUT the fact is it's happened. And we have to live with it, at least for a while. I stumbled upon a post by Chris Williamson which talks about #ToxicCompassion. I urge you to read it here 🔗👉 https://lnkd.in/euvzuECH I have included some screen shots from instagram for visuals. The post is quite lengthy, but I've summarised it here: Chris argues that social issues, such as family structure, health, and parenting practices, are often approached with "toxic compassion" which is a tendency to prioritise short-term emotional comfort over realistic, long-term outcomes. He suggests that this mindset values appearing empathetic over pursuing effective solutions, even if these solutions are uncomfortable or unpopular. Moving on to contrast genuine concern for well-being with "performative empathy," where people focus on looking virtuous rather than actually doing good. He suggests that social media and public discourse reward those who "say the right things" rather than those who take real action to improve situations. It warns that, while appearing to be caring and inclusive may garner approval, it often overlooks or exacerbates deeper problems, as real progress requires uncomfortable truths and difficult choices. I recognise so much of this from my work in the EDI sector, and also perhaps in the campaigning for the US Election... and this epitomises the #SayDoGap and #DiversityDishonesty too much outward posturing and positioning not enough actual action. Do you recognise this pattern too?

🚀 Diversity isn't just good ethics—it's smart business! Studies by Deloitte reveal that companies with inclusive cultures are 6x more innovative and agile. On top of that, organisations leading in diversity initiatives are 35% more likely to see better business returns. 💡✨ Why? Diverse teams bring a wealth of perspectives that drive creativity, improve problem-solving, and boost adaptability. Inclusion isn’t just a checkbox; it’s a competitive edge. If you want your company to thrive, it’s time to make diversity and inclusion your core strategy. Let’s build workplaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered. 🌍🤝 #DiversityMatters #InclusiveCulture #BusinessInnovation #Leadership
