Thanks to Teddy R. and all of the Grind | Certified B Corp team for hosting us and for making this film with us. We are huge fans of Grind, their coffee, and their pods so we couldn’t be more delighted to work together to tackle ocean plastic pollution. Watch the video to find out more about the Grind x Ocean Co partnership in Ted’s own words. ”Ocean Co have been a real important partner to our sustainability strategy as a whole. Providing us with content, tools and monitoring where the work is going on in parts of the world we couldn’t monitor ourselves.” Grind funds plastic collection for every designated product they sell. The amount they fund is linked to the weight of the product sold. This year Grind aims to collect the equivalent weight of over 30 million of their coffee pods. #grind #thankyou #video #customerstory

Today we are celebrating Show Your Stripes, to celebrate the natural environment, and raise awareness of the impact of climate change! 📈 So, what are the stripes? Decades of global temperature data is taken from climate datasets and meteorological agencies. The blues represent years that are significantly cooler than the historical baseline temperature in that period, whilst the reds represent significantly warmer years. 🌍 What do the climate stripes tell us? These are also known as warming stripes, and they visually communicate a long-term trends of global warming. The data behind the increasing frequency and intensity of the red stripes also gives scientists a baseline for projection models, which helps us to understand how our future will look in different case scenarios (ie business as usual). ♨ Why are the stripes showing a warming effect? The intensity of red stripes in more recent years tells us that human activity has a part to play in global warming temperatures. While the contributing activities are complex, scientists have identified specific industries that are particularly responsible. Namely burning fossil fuels, deforestation, land use changes, agricultural practices, industrial processes, waste management, energy consumption, transport, and mining. ♻ Does plastic have a part to play in this? Yes! Plastic is made from petrochemicals derived from oil and natural gas. The extraction, transportation, and refining of these fossil fuels release substantial amounts of greenhouse gases. Manufacturing plastic resins and products requires energy, which also releases CO2 emissions. And depending on the waste stream (burning, recycling, landfill etc.), different volumes of emissions will release into the atmosphere. 🌊 How does Ocean Co support the cause? Companies like HOKA, Grind | Certified B Corp and Babiators are working with us to fund the collection of traceable, ocean-bound plastic. Together we are cleaning up the ocean and directly supporting coastal communities in some of the worst affected regions of the world. 📢 How can I support the cause? Show your stripes! Raise awareness about the global average temperatures by shouting about this movement, and push political bodies to make a change in their legislation around human-induced emissions. 🎨 Head to showyourstripes.info to create your own graphs and graphics. #showyourstripes #ocean #impact

Happy World Oceans Day! 🌎 Today let’s celebrate the ocean’s critical role in sustaining life on Earth. The ocean is crucial to absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. Did you know every other breath you take comes from the ocean? 🌊 🌍 Marine photosynthesizers like seaweed and phytoplankton produce over 50% of the oxygen we breathe. This year, the World Oceans Day (June 8th) theme is Awaken New Depths. At Ocean Co we want to awaken new depths of both understanding and action. The ocean sustains all life on Earth, however it remains a mystery to us. Humans have only ever explored around 10% of it and its crucial role is often ignored, neglected or misunderstood. Despite our reliance on the ocean to survive, we continue to abuse it, every minute we dump the equivalent of a truckload of plastic into it. If nothing changes, by 2050 the plastic in the ocean will outweigh the fish. Your ocean needs you! So what actions could you take to help? 📣 Share this message or create your own to spread awareness and engagement 🌍 Attend the UN World Oceans Day Event on June 7th here: https://lnkd.in/evkfMpG 🌊 Join us to directly fight ocean plastic pollution! Fund plastic collection in some of the worst-affected coastal regions of the world. Our relationship with the ocean needs to change urgently, and our efforts have only skimmed the surface to date. To motivate widespread momentum for the ocean, we need to awaken new depths. #WOD #WorldOceansDay #BluePlanet #impact

Thanks to Earthfest for inviting us along to their brilliant 2024 event a few weeks’ ago. Our very own, Becky Irish, had a great time on a panel with Alice Pleasant from Lime, Georgia Yexley from LOUD MOBILITY and Albert Tucker. The panel topic was - The S in ESG: What role does social impact play in sustainability? One of the key takeaways was the importance of common-sense communication to better include those most impacted and to strengthen the bond between societal and environmental impact. It was an engaging and insightful discussion on a topic close to our hearts! No surprise to the Ocean Co team to see Becky looking in her element with a mic in her hand too! 🎤 😁 Thanks to Georgina McGivern and all of the Earthfest team for inviting us along. We are looking forward to next year's edition already! #earthfest #esg #panel

Babiators, Grind | Certified B Corp and Ubuntu Travel are all partnering with us to tackle ocean plastic pollution. Each works with us in a different way to best suit their audience and impact goals. Babiators have linked their funding of plastic collection to the revenue of their eco product range, committing 10% of sales to the cause. After launching with us this quarter, they have already funded the collection of 3,847kg, equivalent to over 338,000 plastic bottles. Grind | Certified B Corp funds plastic collection for every designated product they sell. The amount they fund is linked to the weight of the product sold. Grind is funding the collection of 12,700kg in 2024, equivalent to over 1.1 million plastic bottles. For each traveler who books a safari, Ubuntu Travel funds the collection of 15kg of plastic. To date, Ubuntu has funded the collection of 6,335kg, equivalent to over 550,000 plastic bottles. Together these three brands have funded the collection of the equivalent weight of over 2 million plastic bottles! And they are only getting started… Join us to turn the tide on ocean plastic pollution. Get in touch to find out more 📩 - hello@weareocean.co #ocean #impact

Would you like to directly prevent 3,000kg (or more) of plastic from polluting the ocean? This World Oceans Day (8th June) we are offering a limited number of standalone campaigns to businesses who want to partner with us to protect the ocean. There are still a few spots left! We would enable your business to collect verified ocean-bound plastic and link it to any customer interaction or sale. For example, 10kg of plastic would be collected for every product you sold during the campaign. To make it easy to shout about the (literal) tonnes of impact you’re funding, we also provide you with bespoke content for your social feeds, email marketing, and more. Interested?
