Are you an SME or Social Enterprise? Are you thinking about a #KTP with a university, please take Jennifer Challinor up on her offer to share her experience with you. Find out more about the KTP with The Crichton Trust and University of Glasgow here: https://lnkd.in/ewEzUzdv
Although Sonam didn’t win yesterday, it was a great day and Colm Dowling from Safehinge Primera was a worthy winner. We are delighted you will be bringing home a trophy for the West of Scotland for your project using radar technology to prevent suicide in mental health hospitals is a subject that is close to my heart. We are delighted that Sonam's work and skills have been recognised nationally among so many interesting and important projects. Sonam Norbu (PhD) has been working with The Crichton Trust for 2 years, as part of a partnership with The University of Glasgow. Being shortlisted recognises his skills in leadership and is an endorsement of his vital role in the project which is already making a difference in how we use energy across the estate. Sonam is a popular member of the team and embodies many of the characteristics of quiet kind leadership, combining his kindness and openness with his cutting-edge technical knowledge and skills that have together made a big impact on our organisations. Sonam was recruited in October 2022, to help develop our understanding of how we use energy and heat on the estate. The project is helping us plan for the transition to zero-carbon energy. He has installed a sensor landscape across our estate and visitation platform to help us track changes, and give feedback on interventions to help understand how to cost-effectively transition our buildings whilst preserving their heritage character and keeping the building fabric in the best condition. The project officially finished in October but Sonam is staying on secondment from the University of Glasgow to The Trust to work on a connected innovative project The HiACT project continues developing our smart data exploring if/how Hydrogen can play a role in our transition to zero carbon energy. The KTP project team included David Flynn and Gwilym Gibbons and took a number of years to get off the ground. Over the course of the development of this project, the need to understand and reduce our energy consumption and plan for Zero carbon energy on the estate has become more acute with the energy crisis putting additional financial pressure on the Trust to look after our 27 heritage buildings and ensure they are ready for the next 200 years. Since we started the process KTP has made it easier (and Cheaper) for social enterprises and Charities to follow this path. So if you are a SME or Social enterprise thinking of developing a KTP with a university partner we would be happy to share our experiences. Thank the team at James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, West of Scotland KTP Centre, especially Jim Berryman and our team The Crichton Trust for making this partnership work, We can't wait to see where this partnership and project goes next.
