Three years ago this month, we completed Copper Beech Development in Hollesley, Suffolk. A stunning collection of six unique homes nestled among mature beech trees across a three-acre site. With air source heat pumps for sustainable heating and a design that respects the natural landscape, this project proudly won the RIBA Suffolk Craftmanship Award in 2023 and is a project we’re very pleased to have delivered. 🌳🛖 Planning was approved following Babergh's Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday 19th February, for a new alternative education facility at Holly Farm Wood, East End, East Bergholt. The development will provide essential educational support, including provisions for special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with two classrooms and two shelters set within the woodland area. Creating an accessible space for all.

👷🏼🏗️ Louis is with us for a few days of work experience this week, and today he’s been out on-site carrying out an inspection of a bespoke Artist Studio by the River Stour. We are fully booked for work experience this year, with plenty of interest from aspiring architects. We’re wrapping up National Apprenticeship Week by highlighting Francisco da Silva. Francisco joined Wincer Kievenaar as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant in August 2022. He’s currently doing a Level 7 Architecture Apprenticeship at the University of Nottingham.   Passionate about heritage architecture, Francisco blends modern design with historic spaces. His research explores thermal performance in listed buildings and reintroducing ornamentation to meet contemporary standards. He also retrofitted a dilapidated barn into a vocational school in London, receiving high recognition for his technical report.   This year, he worked on a master plan for introducing digital industry and biodiversity to central Nottingham. His focus areas include:   🌡️ Thermal performance vs Historical character 🏛️ Sustainable Ornamentation 🔨 Retrofit Design 🌍 Urban Masterplanning 🏗️ Tectonics and Building Construction   Francisco says apprenticeships are a great way to connect academic knowledge with hands on experience, and his advice for anyone thinking about one is to build a strong foundation in your field to make the most of the mentorship and learning opportunities. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #naw2025
