We end the first full week on the year with some lovely news. We are very pleased to announce that Ryan has been promoted to Manager over at Barn Owl and will transition to taking over the reins. Having been deputy manager since we opened he knows the homes, loves the staff and young people and can’t wait for the new challenge. Huge well done Ryan ❤️

Our incredible young man and amazing staff from Barn Owl were up and out at 6am helping Project 16:15 feed and bring a little Christmas Day joy to the homeless out in Northampton. This young man hasn’t missed one week of going out with the team and our adults are right behind him. We are so proud of all they do to make a difference ❤️ #makeadifference #residentialcare

Last Monday our Director Karen Hoer was absolutely honoured to the attend the Excellence in Policing awards at Rockingham Castle. She was shocked initially to find out she’d even been nominated but so honoured to have been awarded the Citizen in Policing Award. Karen volunteers her time to advise, train and support Northamptonshire Police in working with looked after children and care leavers with a trauma informed approach. She loves just how open they have been at wanting to learn and develop so that we can all improve the experiences of Looked after children.

So bit of a different staff member of the month for December as our lovely Christina begged me not to post her!!! Here’s her message back to us which just shows how special our relationship is!! Christina is our driving force behind activities and experiences at Barn Owl and was instrumental in organising WiNurtures Christmas party, which she started booking in June. She goes above and beyond to ensure the adults, children and community have magical memories and we are so grateful to her!!!! Thankyou Christina ❤️

Community integration is important for children's homes and the kids living in them. And Christmas is a special time of year to truly embrace your community. Here is CHA Member 'WiNurture Childcare' celebrating Christmas by holding a festive party for the children from the home and local community. Awesome example of a children's home being part of the community. 👏

This really was the most magical night and I’m so proud of what we have created. The videos do not do the party justice. To have so many people come together to support our homes and children always amazes me. We really can change the stigma and people’s views we just have to drown out the noise with showing everyone how amazing residential care can be ❤️

So here it is, the much anticipated WiNurture Christmas party hosted by Barn Owl. We didn’t think they could go bigger and better but they outdid themselves. With over a 150 visitors including friends, families, neighbours, police, social care teams, parish council and even the high sheriff we were overrun, just how we like it. This year we were treated to a gospel choir, puppet show, magician, donkeys, Photo Booth, turkey and hog roast, Santa visit and treats galore all set under magical snow and light trails. Having everyone come together to celebrate is exactly what we stand for and our children just thrive knowing they are loved by not just us but the whole community!!! Our children have loved waking up to see what our mischievous little elves have been up to this year and it has been an absolute joy to see the excitment on their faces. We are extremely proud to announce that from January our Outstanding registered manager Aaron Shambrook will be stepping up to the position of Operations manager. Aaron has been with WiNurture since we started and has worked tirelessly to support not just the children but the adults within his team having 100% Retention rate. Having achieved outstanding twice this year it shows just how passionate he is about his work and we couldn’t be happier having him step up to support the leadership of our homes. ❤️
