Updates

  • Women of Colour Global Network (WOCGN) are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Guardian News & Media, piloting Pathways - a professional development programme designed for women of colour employees by professional women of colour. The programme recognises the importance of creating an inclusive and supportive environment for women of colour professionals who are significantly underrepresented in senior leadership in the UK. The first cohort will run for 9 months, matching 20 mentees with 20 women of colour professional mentors from a range of industries, external to the organisation. Mentees will also be matched with an internal Guardian leadership Sponsor, to provide internal advocacy and networks supporting their career advancement. In addition, they will also be invited to attend professional development workshops through the course of the programme. Sponsors and Mentors receive training delivered by WOCGN to understand the impact of intersectionality and how best to support underrepresented groups such as women of colour in the workplace. Managing Director and Co-founder of Women of Colour Global Network, Haseena Farid she/her, shares: “We are thrilled to partner with The Guardian in launching the Pathways Programme for their women of colour employees. Through this partnership, we will not only amplify their voices and experiences but also inspire the next generation of women of colour to see themselves as future leaders. Together with The Guardian, our intention is to drive meaningful change in the workplace and build a more inclusive environment where women of colour thrive, excel, and lead." Editor-in-Chief of the Guardian, Katharine Viner, said: “As a global media organisation, we aim to promote and encourage diversity every day, in everything we do. I am delighted the Guardian is launching this mentoring programme that ensures women who are significantly underrepresented are given an opportunity to succeed and grow their careers, and am glad to be a part of it”. We are incredibly grateful to The Guardian for supporting our mission and vision to create a more equitable and inclusive workplace environment. • ✨ What a special evening with #WOCGN at Tiwani Contemporary for an intimate viewing of Emma Prempeh’s thought-provoking work, Wandering Under a Shifting Sun. Emma's art deeply resonates with themes of belonging, family, and displacement—experiences familiar to so many of us. Through her powerful pieces, she shares the complexities of living between continents, building new kinships, and navigating her identity across her Ghanaian, Caribbean, and Ugandan heritage. This gathering was a reminder of the beauty of shared stories and the strength we find in each other’s journeys.  Thank you to Adelaide B. and the Tiwani team for hosting us and for a brilliant talk. If you’re passionate about connecting with thought-provoking cultural events and a vibrant community, join #WOCGN today and be part of our next experience! 🌍✨ #EmmaPrempeh #DiasporaArt #Belonging #TiwaniContemporary
