  • Nutmeg, Ginger, Clove, Cardamon and Cinnamon were found four days before Christmas on a cold, frosty morning. At just eight weeks old, they were very scared and unsettled – but thankfully healthy. It took them a while to adjust to Woodgreen life, and we’d often find them snuggled together in the corner of their kennel. As they were still too young to be vaccinated, our carers pushed the siblings around the site in a trolley, helping them to get used to the sights and smells of the world. Slowly but surely, their confidence started to grow, and the pups were ready to leave us. They soon found homes where they’ve been spicing up the lives of their new owners ever since. #RescuePuppies #DogRehoming #WoodgreenPetsCharity

  • Edmund and siblings Peter, Susie, and Lucy found themselves in our care when their owner passed away. All the cats were friendly, but it was clear Edmund and Peter were besotted with each other and needed to stay together. Peter was a happy, healthy chap, and was ready to be rehomed quickly. But something seemed ‘off’ with Edmund. He was walking strangely – his knees would sometimes touch the floor! We discovered he had a bone disorder, and whilst he wasn’t in pain – the issue could affect him later in life. He’d need complex surgery on his knees, and with that came a long recovery time. So, we sent Peter off to his new digs where he’d wait await the arrival of his brother. Edmund’s surgery went better than we hoped, and his recovery too. After a few months, he was ready to join Peter, and they’ve been living happily in their very own Narnia ever since.

  • Christmas was saved for Cindy Lou when she found a new home with Cheryl. She was brought to us by the Dog Warden, who'd found her on the streets. We don't think she'd ever been a loved pet – she was incredibly timid and didn't seem to trust people. There were also clear signs she'd given birth recently, but no sign of any pups. It's possible she might've been used for breeding. It took a little while, but she gradually warmed to her carer Tiffany (pictured here). She was probably one of the first humans to show her kindness. Just two weeks later, her timidness had melted away, and she was ready for a home. Cindy is now living the happy life that all dogs deserve, with her very own family for Christmas. Cheers to you Cindy Lou, and all who’s far and near. 🌟💚 #RescueDogs

  • Tiny Dynamo was found by a passerby on a tennis court! She was bundled into a car and brought to us. But her adventures didn’t stop there... She was so scared she hid under the driver’s seat before escaping behind the dashboard! Armed with Dreamies (and plenty of patience), cat carer Laura managed to rescue her. We all rallied around her, and she warmed to belly rubs and fuss. Her confidence continued to grow with the help of a loving foster carer and Dynamo was soon ready for her next adventure; a new home. It was game, set, match when we found ace cat mum Tracey, and now Dynamo goes by the name Raven; enjoying Wimbledon from the comfort of a sofa. #CatRehoming #WoodgreenPetsCharity

  • Another one from our archives! Back in 2014, we met Gracie, a three-year-old Lurcher found wandering the streets of Cambridge. She was underweight and nervous, so when she arrived at Woodgreen, we made sure she was comfortable and felt loved. With a special diet and plenty of care, Gracie soon began to blossom, gaining a healthy amount of weight and showing us her sweet, gentle side. Before long, Gracie landed on her paws in a new home, where the owners gave her the star treatment. We couldn’t have been happier for her!

  • One from the archives! Let’s go back to 2014, when we met Misty. Misty was in one of the worst conditions we’ve ever seen. She was riddled with fleas, had sore, inflamed skin and to top it off, a huge growth on her ear. Treating her would cost thousands. Thanks to our amazing supporters, we were able give her the treatment she needed. She received meds to soothe her skin, and we operated to remove the growth, which was a huge success! Misty went on to a lovely home, where she spent her days happy, and healthy. We’ll never forget Misty, her love of tummy tickles and most of all, how we were able to help her – thanks to you! #Woodgreen100

  • Fort and Knox’s owners thought they had brought home two boys, so they got quite the surprise when Knox had become a mum! 😲 Not knowing what to do, they reached out to us for help. Our team rushed in to bring a stressed Knox and her new babies, Pinky and Perky, to Woodgreen. Knox was underweight and struggling to produce milk, so Pinky and Perky were hand-reared by foster carer Chris. This gave Knox the time to regain her strength. While the owners had already decided it was best to give Knox and her babies new homes, Fort stayed at home with the owners until Knox had recovered. With our support, they decided it was best they stay together when the time was right. Soon enough, Pinky and Perky were ready to hop off to a new home – it was love at first sight for their new owner, Sue! Happy endings all round, as loved-up buns Knox and Fort have been reunited too. We're working on finding the pair a home – wish them luck! https://bit.ly/40OeVDr #Rabbits #WoodgreenPetsCharity

  • Woodgreen has just reached an incredible milestone – we've turned 100 years old! Founded in 1924 by Louisa Snow after the First World War, Woodgreen has grown from a small shelter to a vital organisation with a 43-acre site in Cambridgeshire, helping thousands of pets and people each year. • It was a pleasure welcoming Hazel and Clare from Battersea Academy to Woodgreen recently! We loved showing them around, sharing insights into our online training programmes (such as our dog training support classes), and the ways our Pet Support team assists pet owners. Their visit sparked some inspiring ideas for future collaborations to expand our educational reach and help even more pets and people. Here’s to working together! #Battersea #WoodgreenPetsCharity

  • One night, three anxious pups – Aragorn, Boromir, and Arwen – found themselves on an unexpected journey to Woodgreen when they were brought in by a member of the public. Our team leapt into action, getting them checked over and settled in for the night. Being high-energy Malinois, these pups struggled with kennel life and were also very nervous – we think they had limited experience of normal home life before coming to us. But our very own ‘Gandalf’, dog behaviourist Lindsay, worked her magic! With dedicated training, she helped the pups grow in confidence. She also roped in some extra support from a few patient, calm dog buddies. Soon, their true personalities emerged: sweet, clever, and snuggly! Over time, they all found their paws – even Boromir, who was once scared of people and other dogs. Now, he lives with other Malinois, forming a bond that seemed tricky at the start. And the other pups? After careful matching from Lindsay, they’ve been whisked off on new adventures in their own homes – and we’re pleased to say this fellowship are getting on well! #Malinois #RescueDogs #WoodgreenPetsCharity
