Driving economic development and enterprise in the county by providing strategic leadership.
About us
Worcestershire was one of the first standalone, single-county LEPs to be approved in December 2010 by the Departments for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and Communities and Local Government (CLG). It is one of 39 LEPs established by the Coalition Government with a role to help determine local economic priorities and lead economic growth and job creation. There are many advantages in being a single county LEP. Many of our stakeholders, partnerships and statutory bodies have a matching geography and we are able to align, co-ordinate and co-operate with them to exploit opportunities. Decision making and communication is therefore streamlined, enabling the partnership to be ‘fleet of foot’, committed, pro-active and ready to play its role. Our task is to shape the best business environment for the county, stimulate growth of the local economy, encourage inward investment, boost enterprise and job creation, and actively promote Worcestershire as an exceptional place to work, live and prosper. Worcestershire LEP is led by private sector businesses in partnership with the public sector – comprising Worcestershire County Council and the six district councils of Worcester City, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Malvern Hills, Wyre Forest and Wychavon.

This week is Tomorrow's Engineers Week 2024! In light of this, we asked our employers to produce an industry problem solving activity or challenge for our schools. These activities will support students to understand how their curriculum learning may link to the development of industry skills and real world problems. Connecting careers to the curriculum is an essential component of a student’s careers education and we welcome the contributions from local employers in developing new resources to support this. A particular thank you to Mazak Europe, Wickens and Worcester Bosch! If you would like to discuss how you or your employer could support careers in schools, please get in touch with the team cec@worcestershire.gov.uk #TEWeek24

We had the pleasure of catching up with Theo and the team at Design in the Shires to discuss his inspiring journey through an accessible #apprenticeship! Theo, an Apprentice Designer and former Bridge School Malvern student, started with work experience at Design in the Shires, guided by his careers advisor Lucy. That placement opened the door for Theo to embark on an accessible apprenticeship, tailored to support his skills and aspirations. In this video, hear from the Design in the Shires team about the impact of #AccessibleApprenticeships—and how their commitment has earned them recognition as a Worcestershire Inclusive Leader. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gwTMi79i #INclusiveWorcestershire.
