If we have Mental Health First Aiders, why would we need Suicide First Aiders too? It’s a valid question—and one that many organisations are asking as they build on their mental health support frameworks. While Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) provide critical support for general mental health concerns, Suicide First Aiders (SFA) are specifically trained to address one of the most urgent and sensitive challenges: suicidal ideation. These two roles don’t compete—they complement each other, working together to create a broader and more effective safety net for workplace mental health. Recently, we partnered with NHS South Yorkshire ICB to deliver five Suicide First Aid sessions over the past six months. This training equipped their team with specialised skills to respond confidently and effectively to crises. Their decision to invest in this reflects the importance of going beyond general support, ensuring their teams are prepared for every scenario. If your organisation is exploring ways to enhance its mental health support framework, drop me a ‘🙌’ in the comments, and I’ll send you a guide outlining what we cover and how it can benefit your team. #SuicidePrevention #WorkplaceWellbeing #MentalHealthSupport #EmployeeWellbeing #CrisisIntervention Sofia Wadman Claire Burns

About us
Wurkplace Wellbeing was founded by Claire Burns, who is dedicated to helping leaders reclaim their well-being and achieve peak performance. With a profound understanding of the pressures faced by high-level professionals, Claire has developed the Success Without Sacrifice program to empower individuals to thrive without compromising their health or happiness. Many leaders grapple with overwhelming responsibilities, often feeling trapped in a cycle of stress. The demands of their roles can lead to diminished well-being, loss of focus, and not performing at their best. Constant pressure takes a toll on mental health, leading to fatigue and disconnection from personal values. Distractions and competing demands make it challenging to concentrate, resulting in decreased productivity and effectiveness. To address these challenges, Claire designed the Success Without Sacrifice programme, focusing on three key milestones: Milestone 1: Uncover What’s Draining You Participants will discover the specific work-related factors affecting their well-being and learn how to regain control over their mental health and performance. Milestone 2: Master Your Mindset for Peak Success This milestone helps leaders develop powerful strategies to overcome emotional triggers and negative thought patterns, boosting their mental well-being and creating a personalised plan for sustained success. Milestone 3: Build Resilient, High-Impact Habits Participants will establish daily habits that elevate their well-being and performance, ensuring they stay energised and resilient in any high-pressure environment. Claire is passionate about partnering with leaders on their journey toward reclaiming well-being and peak performance. If you feel overwhelmed and are ready to take control of your life, the Success Without Sacrifice program can help you reset, reconnect, and reclaim your best self. Connect with Wurkplace Wellbeing to explore your path to success without sacrifice.

“Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.” — Zig Ziglar Apparently, it takes hearing something up to 7 times before we act on it. So here goes… You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. You can’t pour from an empty cup. With Christmas celebrations fast approaching, we don’t want you running on empty and missing out on enjoying the festivities. So, what action can you take now to refill before it all begins? 🎅🎄🧑🎄❄️🤶🎄❄️🎅❄️🤶🎄 #changehappenswithaction #SelfCareNotSelfish #WellbeingMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #PrioritiseYourself #HealthyBoundaries #MentalWellbeing #WorkLifeBalance #ChristmasSelfCare

It’s easy to think people are intentionally disregarding your boundaries, but often, they’re just not aware of how their actions are affecting you. The problem often lies in how we communicate them. Let us give you an example of an approach we’ve found really helpful: the DESC model: D- Describe E- Express S -Specify C- Consequence So let’s say someone keeps interrupting us when we really need to focus, asking non-urgent questions. we’d approach it like this: DESCRIBE the situation: I have a really urgent piece of work that I need to complete, but I keep getting phone calls from you with questions that don’t require my immediate attention. EXPRESS how it affects me: The calls are making it really hard for me to concentrate. SPECIFY what I need: I’d really appreciate it if you could email me any questions instead of ringing me. CONSEQUENCES of action (or inaction): Then I can get back to you once I have completed this task, and I can give your questions my full attention. We’ve found this approach works because it gives the other person clarity and keeps the conversation constructive whilst maintaining my boundaries. What do you think? Does this line up with how you communicate your boundaries, or do you have a different go-to approach? #Leadership #TimeManagement #Boundaries #EffectiveCommunication #WorkplaceCulture Wurkplace Wellbeing

Are you surprised to learn that: ➡️ 1 in 4 people in the UK experience a mental health issue each year. ➡️ Only 27% of people with mental health issues report receiving professional support or treatment, highlighting the significant gap in accessible mental health services. ➡️ 62% of employees say that poor mental health has affected their work performance. And what about the workplace? Does it surprise you that: ➡️ 1 in 3 workers feel that their mental health concerns are not taken seriously by employers? This stigma creates barriers to employees seeking help and affects how mental health is handled within teams. ➡️ 1 in 5 employees have taken sick leave due to mental health issues, which impacts not only the individual but also team productivity and company culture. ➡️ 76% of people believe their company would benefit from more mental health support and education. Me neither. These findings come from Mind's new release, "The Big Mental Health Report 2024"—a crucial read for anyone invested in improving employee wellbeing. Mental health remains an area that requires urgent and continued support, particularly within the workplace. These statistics confirm what many of us already know: there is a critical need for better mental health training, stigma reduction, and comprehensive support systems to help employees manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges effectively. By implementing mental health awareness training, organisations can foster open discussions, reduce stigma, and equip employees with the tools they need to protect their wellbeing—ultimately boosting productivity and creating a healthier, more supportive work environment. How confident would you be to put the unpolished version of yourself out there? The version that’s not performing at your best, the version that’s struggling mentally, and maybe feeling a bit off track? I imagine not very confident. That's because we’ve all been taught to show the world the best version of ourselves—the confident, put-together person who seems to have everything under control. But the reality is, we all have those moments when we’re not at our best. And yet, we fear the judgment. What will people think if I’m not perfect? Covering up the unpolished version doesn’t make the pressure go away. It builds up until it takes its toll, mentally and physically. In fact, hiding it can do more harm than good. We miss out on opportunities to connect authentically, to share the challenges we all face but don’t talk about enough. And we forget that being real is actually the key to long-term performance and wellbeing. That’s exactly what I work on in my coaching program. I help people get back to their peak performance and mental wellbeing without having to hide behind a polished mask. Together we will dig into the tough stuff—the stress, the self-doubt, and the burnout—and we tackle it head-on. The goal isn’t to hide what’s not perfect but to embrace it, build resilience, and start performing at your best, authentically. Imagine showing up at work as you are, without the need to pretend. It’s possible to be both vulnerable and strong. That’s the true path to sustained success and wellbeing. #mentalwellbeing #successwithoutthesacrifice #authenticitywineverytime Wurkplace Wellbeing

We’ll happily block out our diary for work, but why don’t we schedule self-care? Because we’ve been conditioned to think it’s something we need to earn, rather than recognising it as a necessity. Don’t feel guilty—prioritise your well-being, get it booked in, and I promise your future self will thank you. #wellbeing #selfcare #itsnotselfish #itsanecessity

Ever wonder why we keep spreading ourselves so thin? Why do we find ourselves caught in the cycle of saying yes to everything? YES, I’ll stay late YES, I’ll take on that project YES, I can do that as a favour YES, YES, YES, YES, YES Are we hoping all these yeses will bring us closer to our goals or that people will notice our dedication? But what are we actually doing? Running on empty. The reality is saying yes to everything doesn’t make us better. It makes us burnt out. We start compromising on quality. Our health takes a hit. The enjoyment of work is no where to be seen! Yet, we keep going. It’s as if slowing down might be seen as weakness. But who is seeing it as a weakness? Is it me or someone else? What about next time you hear yourself saving yes to something you shouldn't be. You just stop and say No. It'll feel good , I promise you!! 😉

This week… ❌ Maybe a project you worked on for weeks got delayed, and left you feeling deflated. ❌ Perhaps you were juggling so many tasks that nothing quite got the attention it deserved. ❌ Maybe a client meeting didn’t go as planned, and you walked away feeling pretty meh! ❌ Or you had to tackle a tricky conversation with a colleague, and it’s weighed on you since. ❌You might have felt unrecognised for your efforts, as if your hard work goes unnoticed. ❌Perhaps you’ve felt unsupported by your team, leaving you to tackle challenges on your own. Sound familiar? Lets face it some weeks are just bloody hard work! But the weekend is here, and it’s time to hit pause. Don’t carry the stress and struggles home. Leave it behind, recharge, and reconnect with what fuels you outside of work. Monday is a new start. But right now? It’s time for you. Enjoy the break – you’ve earned it. 👏 Wurkplace Wellbeing #wellness #wellbeing #weekend #timeoffforyou #downtime

How much of your Sunday is spent dreading Monday? The elusive SMONDAY! Be honest—does the thought of the upcoming week creep in and steal those last few hours of your weekend? I’ve definitely been there, where the anxiety of Monday turns Sunday into a countdown to stress 🤯 The thing is, as humans, we tend to repeat the same patterns of thought. But how often do we challenge ourselves to reframe them? 🤔 (Not nearly enough!). So, if that SMONDAY feeling is setting in for you, I challenge you to switch it up. What thoughts do you usually have about Monday, and how can you reframe them? Remember: we own our thoughts about the week ahead. It all begins with how we see it. 🥸 👋 SMONDAY! #nosmondayhappeninghere #mentalwellbeing #powerofourthoughts
