When I started out in transport 35+ years ago I loved working for a couple of small family run firms, we all pulled together and no-one went home until the job was done regardless of your role in the company and we thrived on it and customers appreciated it. As a fresh faced 18 year old lad driving a 7.5 tonner and then passing my class 1 a few weeks after my 21st birthday I have stretched my legs over many countries with a vast array of goods and I wish I had taken many more photos than I did. Things have changed over the years and larger multi national haulage companies have taken over the smaller family run firms and together that personal touch has been lost and businesses are now realising this.
