Happy Monday All, An interesting question for you today, do you think you might be jeopardising your own sales efforts? One of my favourite quotes is by the sales trainer Leanne Hoagland-Smith who said, If your sales have tanked, maybe the issue is not your lack of sales skills, but you are rushing the knowing and trusting aspects of the buying process. Buyers have been in the driving seat when it comes to sales for a long time now and are a lot less dependent on you to understand their needs and the products available. Yet I very rarely come across companies who mirror this notion in their sales process. This takes us back to Leanne's quote, because taking the time to really know and understand your customer can be hard work. I guess most people are naturally focused on what they know and understand which means that it's easier to structure your sales efforts around this. The only problem is that doing this reduces your conversion rate and ultimately means you sell less.
